Eye-fi still works to get photos from cam to phone, but no online service (which I never used or needed). My iPhone has independently informed me that cam to phone transfer will cease with iOS 11 "unless maker updates," so I have delayed updating my phone.

FLU Card remote Live View display . . .

JBINPG above had the correct answer. I should have said that the view has been visible before thru my phone, but that has been when apparently I had Composition Adjust OFF. Normally I leave that ON. Turning all Live View options OFF at top of K-3 menu page 3 top line apparently restores the send to the phone. I am using Safari.

Thanks, all, especially JBINPG. Mark

BTW, I have a gallery showing called Peaceably To Assemble at Corner Store Arts in DC, if anyone lives nearby. All shot with my K-3. Gallery hours are 3:30-6pm M-W, Thur. closed, Friday 11-5pm.

I have the K-3 silver grip but never use it. My lens of choice is the 50-135. No problem.

I get a lot of shots with the Q precisely because of its small size. The plastic lenses, BTW, are not picked up by most metal wands at concerts, museums etc. The camera goes where I go.

F 135 f2.8 vs FA 135 f2.8

There is no optical difference whatsoever between the F and FA 135's. Aperture blades (8 to 9) and lens barrel material are the only differences. Purple fringing is pronounced at wide apertures on APS-C digital, and probably on K-1. On APS-C it's a compact 200mm f2.8. It's a compact super-tele (with the adapter) on the Q bodies.

07 Shield Mount lens - modification?

Since the native Q/10/7 lens cap does not stay in place well, the best use for the 07 is in fact as a lens cap that allows you to put the camera body in a shirt or jeans pocket, with the 06 and 08 in other pockets. I get the camera into places they don't like cameras this way.

SMC Pentax-FA* 24mm f/2 AL versus Sony Distagon T* 24mm f/2 ZA SSM on Sony A7R II

A useful and insightful test. I bought my second FA*24 for sentimental reasons, having enjoyed my first copy on film through a PZ-1p. I think it's just a really good looking lens and very unique, even in the "old" Pentax lineup. On digital, I process my DNG's in-camera as "reversal film" and then lighten the shadows somewhat.

PS off topic -- Was there a thread here once on someone who rebuilds DA15's freelance?

Thanks all for the nominations. I regret I posted jpeg quality of only 85, but the pixel constraints of posting cause lost resolution anyway. The K-3 renders the rocks in a beautiful fashion in the full version. But as you see, I'm in the river, so it's the weather resistance of the K-3 and lenses that helps me here. I've completely dunked the gear walking in hard currents once or twice, to no ill effect.

The DA40 Limited on FF is a joy

Does switching to crop actually change IQ? Is it not the same as cropping in pp? I don't have a K-1 yet so I do not know.

As for the DA40, I bought that at first release when I was shooting with an MZ-S. I carefully compared the DA against the original SMC-M pancake using slide film, and the DA gave the exact same coverage as the SMC-M. I still have those slides and see no vignetting in the corners.

My first vintage lens (A 28mm f2) and my first fungus?!

Well, $165 was certainly a too-good-to-be-true price for a perfect copy of that lens. It's a rare model, the fastest wide angle Pentax ever made that accepted 49mm filters. It has fungus, i think. Maybe it won't affect pictures noticeably. There are people who would pay $150 for that even if it needed internal cleaning. Perfect, it's about $400.

Yes, thank you for that info. So far, I can get the camera shutter to operation after a single initial dark shot, after which it is working. As mentioned above, it will probably worsen, but for now I can live with the habit of shooting a frame at start-up.

Hmmm. I had not heard of a solenoid issue. I was an early adopter, so I got it early in the run. Not that many clicks, though, not nearly enough to wear something out. Thanks for the info on the solenoid. I had not heard that.
