After the early problems with this app, I kinda gave up on it. Then recently I tried it. Very nice. Works as expected, didn't lock up trying to download all the images on the card.

Pentax K-1 ii electronic shutter

I found the autofocus of the K1 II more capable of following moving objects. The low light ability is amazing as well. I use the electronic shutter for long lens shots of things very far away where the slightest vibration can cause a problem.

Rule of thumb. Purple artifacts are a flaw in image processing software not handling out of range values properly.

Every pentax body that I've had comes with a sync socket. It is small with a threaded. I believe that there are a few different standards, but my K5, K3, K1 all have them.

How IBIS perform on longer lenses (200 mm)?

I shoot the 150-450, and it works very well on the K1. With a long lens and the available movement it has limitations, but I handhold the lens with good results.

Yet Another Change of Focus Screen Thread (for the K-1)

When I shot the K5 I used the Canon S screen, which worked very well. I tried one of the prism style, and it didn't work very well at all. There wasn't enough light available through the viewfinder. I don't know what the S one would do on the K1, but the K5 was pretty easy to change. At the time it was available with shims.

I got a Papillio 8*21 and find them excellent. Light and small, very clear image and the macro close ups are amazing. I wanted something a bit longer than my 500mm Sigma that I could carry in my pocket. I've used them alot.

Don't spend the $200, save it until you can get something decent.

You can run across a sigma 170-500 for pentax, and they aren't very expensive. Stopped down it isn't bad. Sigma 150-500 or 50-500 zooms are quite good, but you will pay $750-1000 for them. Worth buying. I got a Tamron Adaptall 400 f4 manual focus that was quite nice, and you might be able to find a 300mm f2.8 and 1.5 or 2x teleconverters for them, The quality is quite good, and you will learn the art of manual focus. The KPA adapters aren't cheap, get a k-adaptall manual one, and learn the art of manual aperture control.

The older 500 mm pentax lenses that are about are ok, but the chromatic aberrations are pretty bad wide open. Stopped down I think they are reasonable. You will learn the art of post processing cleaning up the flaws.

There is a reason why people spend unbelievable amounts of money for long lenses.

A few from today. Mixture of lenses; 150-450 for the woodpecker and one grouse, the other grouse was the 55-300, works surprisingly well on the K1. And the Tamron 28-75 for the landscape. The high iso capability of the K1 got me some shots today.

Darktable, using the dtstyle.net - a darktable styles repository from one of the developers. It gets rid of chromatic noise very well without losing detail, but leaves luminous noise, white dots. I did a drawn mask around the bird and leaves, then blurred and darkened the background.

Out of camera raw had lots of detail to work with.

A woodpecker finishing off the elderberries. This is a ridiculous iso 40000. Cropped slightly and the background blurred and darkened.

Sigma 500 f4.5. I have the 150-450 but a bit longer and bigger aperture is nice in this situation. Yes, it is a dipper.

New K-series DSLR under development to be exhibited

The back doesn't look finished to me. Why is it inset with a shoulder on three sides? The corner in question isn't finished. So it is a prototype.

I don't know what the end result will look like, but there are lots of people, enough to listen to, that would pass on this model if it didn't have an articulating screen. I suspect that is the type of information that Ricoh is looking for.

At best the screen looks unfinished. Looking at all the photos the amount it is set into the back varies across all four sides. It looks unfinished in a way that the rest of the body doesn't. I don't know what that means.

It looks like there is a GPS built in, the markings and the small indicator light on the right side of the prism housing look like the k1.
