Very interesting comments. An evolving social conscience does make it difficult sometimes to look too closely at the expressions of the past, no doubt one reason why vandals today are seeking to eradicate the tangible mementos of our history. I include photos of two of or viney friends along with the bokeh behind them.

KIT: 645D and an ancient lens, Carl Zeiss Jena 180mm f 2.8 @ f 2.8, a big heavy lens that is famed for its light, airy, spacious portraiture results.

Yes, I always mulch carefully around all my viney friends. I even have one clematis growing in total shade but with the head in total sun--she loves it! Have not heard of that book but will be sure to look it up.

Jocelyn and I are strange gardeners and photographers. We make our plantings in consideration of how they will appear photographically. This year she has also planted a 100+ dahlia and gladiola cutting garden to supply all the flowers she gives away to friends and nursing homes.

Nice roses. We are clematis fanciers, and have about 75 different varieties. Here are three, photos taken this morning. These are not good examples of bokeh, but will post them anyway.

Nice color, and it is entertaining to puzzle out the point of focus. The flower on the fence rail is clematis hybred, cannot recall name.

TDvN57 has posted a very interesting test of three 645 telephoto lenses over on the Medium Format thread: the 150-300mm, the 300mm*, and the 400mm.

Thank you for taking the time to perform this testing exercise. It is very interesting to me because I happen to have all of these three lenses, and have wondered which is the best performer. My 80-year-old eyes are not reliable enough to make any kind of definitive judgments, but I am quite impressed with all three results. I am particularly impressed that the 150-300 zoom lens is capable of staying on the same playing field, and surprisingly ranked it best on the Panasonic lettering, all the more because many zoom lenses seem to perform poorest at their most distant focal lengths.

NOTE: I see that the 300mm* and the 400mm are both ranked quite high on the Forum lens reviews, while the 150-300mm is ranked much lower. Perhaps you might consider posting a review of the 150-300mm lens to incorporate your test results.

Nice chair shot. You know, I have been thinking. When you consider how many different arrangements you could set up using one, two, or three chairs, and when you consider the different seasons of the year and the varying weather conditions, and all the different cameras and lenses in your collection--it is awe inspiring to begin to conceive the number photographic arrangements that are possible. It would even be possible to set different things in one or more of the chairs--prepared food, garden produce, photographic equipment, even people. The possibilities are infinite! Just don't paint the chairs; part of their charm is the fact they need painting. :>)

The K-10 I won on eBay arrived today. Only 14,388 shutter clicks, and all packed up in original factory boxe with all the factory accessories--charger, USB connector, 18-55mm kit lens (non-WR, unfortunately), and an extra item, a rubberized camera guard/protector. Everything is in nice condition with no marks or scratches. Looks like I will be making a few more contribution to th K-10 thread.

Here are a few more flower images with my AF- crippled K-10, and I should mention that the lens for this series is the Tokina AT-X 90mm f 2.5 macro, appropriately a MF lens. The K-10 handles this classic macro lens very well I think.

Here are a few shots with my manual focus only K-10. I have a bargain K-10, bargain price, on the way, which will do AF.

NOTE ABOUT NAME CHANGE: I am the one who inquired about including other CCD cameras in this club. In the interest of full understanding, I am not at all particular about the club name, but would just like the opportunity to toss in a very occasional image from the 645D. I would not like anything to be done that would very much alter the club as it stands at present. I think it should remain, irrespective of name, primarily oriented to the K-10, and I think the wishes of the primary past contributors should be respected.

You are correct. I have read that they are the same formula, but produced by two different companies. There was some kind of technology sharing, but the two lenses are close but not exactly the same.

You will like this lens. I have the Tokina AT-X version, and it is one of the finest macro lenses I have used. Enjoy!
