Oh my! The choices are endless as they say. I have manual, auto focus and SR lenses. 645, 6x7, and even the Carl Zeiss Jena 180 f2.8 bokeh monster. Definitely not a dumb question but be careful what you wish for, it's addictive :)

"Once you shoot the Z there is no going back!"

So true,

Thanks,
Ray

Wow! Yes, robski, you are right. That is definitely different and thought provoking. I don't think that I am quite that high energy, but there is a lot there to consider. Thanks for the link.

It appears to be firmly attached. This is surely going to test the shake reduction of that 28-45 though!

Strange things happen. I sold Pentax equipment to a camera store in Indianapolis In. One of the items was a K3 body and couple of weeks later I was contacted by a woman from Germany who had purchased the body on Ebay. She tracked me down through the information that I mistakenly left in the camera memory. Small world, she contacted me through Pentax Forums.

645z: how to correctly remove the lenses

Periodically ... as in seldom, I find that a particular lens will release easier if first I apply slight pressure as though I am mounting the lens, and while holding it there, press the release button and remove the attached lens.

I was just visiting over at the Luminous-landscape website where there is a lovely picture of the K1ll on the feature article by Dan Wells. As usual though, Dan Wells says once again that Pentax is likely dead due to the fact that they do not introduce prolific models per year. He has his "Q's" mixed up, the difference between quantity and quality. Really a nice image of the K1 even if it has "too many buttons" :) Looking forward to the K3 lll

Autofocus issue and battery drain problem with a used 645D

I too would recommend a new battery and also the Pentax unit. I have worked them hard all the way through a K5, K3, 645D, 645Z and now K1. None have failed and I still use one from the K5

The 645D is a good camera, there are days that I wish that I still had it.

Good luck, Ray

With the power grip on my camera I have a card that stays in the provided compartment on the battery tray. Actually had to use it once! Came in handy when I got carried away and filled the other card.

I too enjoy the K1. Well designed and user friendly.

A quote from Kirk Tuck on his blog The Visual Science Lab / Kirk Tuck: Nostalgia for cameras past. There were some that were just so much fun to use. There are better ones (technical measure) that just suck the fun out of photography...

"One of my recent camera purchases that I think I most regret getting rid of, from a handling point of view, was the Pentax K1. It was the most confidence inspiring body design I think I've handled since the days of the Nikon D700."

I agree whole heartedly having had a Nikon D700 as a studio camera, but the K1 trumps it.

I was looking for something similar and finally just put two rails on the body. I picked these up on Ebay . The reason that I chose these is that both ends of the rail are closed. This allows me to slide the camera left or right slightly when needed, as when taking a macro shot. And I can't accidentally slid off the rails. The two are joined at the end with cap screws making it very secure.

Could this perhaps be a way to attain an "up to ISO ~1,600,000"?
