about the back-up: went to use it and while the meter functioned, the film went right through the camera. Never stopped. Wound right through. We have problems today.

645Z vs. Fuji MFD Mirrorless

as perhaps one of the few who shoots with both the 645Z and the GFX, if I had to chose one, it would be the Fuji. I have the Fotodiox adapter specifically for the 28-45 but it is an ungainly thing that is very front-heavy. I have used other Pentax 645 glass on my Fuji with adapters and I can live with it. In my opinion, the 645Z handles better while the GFX is more versatile. Besides the Pentax glass, I am also using Mamiya 645, Nikon, Canon and Minolta glass. It has been fun. As a user of LR, I haven't seen a big enough difference in RAW files to justify one over the other. And now that Capture One supports Fuji, that might be a mark in their favour.

rather than a 100mp camera, I would like to see a revamp of the Z with a deeper buffer, more AF points and a faster AF system. And where is all the new glass?

I think the longer term problem might be the warping of your lens mount.

never have seen one, I don't think. You might have to find yourself a machine shop who can build you an aluminum one.

the same holds true if you post positive things about CaNikon cameras on some Pentax forums so I wouldn't be rushing to judgement.

Mine was delivered by Purolater today after getting into Regina Don's yesterday. Grip is coming via Saskatoon. Chunky thing. Different enough that I am going to have to read the manual.

out here in the backwoods of Saskatchewan, the local Don's Photo in both Regina and Saskatoon received K-1s ... too bad Calgary lags behind.

Can a K-1 owner confirm 1:1 square crop shooting option?

totally agree with the idea of having more crop options in the camera. Yes, you can crop later if you want but having the crop then allows me to design the image right there and see the results right there. Later, I may simply forget. If you want to crop later, then put on a wider lens, shoot everything with it with the intention of always having to crop. I prefer to have the most pixels I can. My choice.

there is that place, or was, right on the main downtown street and almost the highway. I think it used to be an old bank building. The main street dead ends there, if I remember correctly, as it doesn't connect to the highway. Found it. Cranbrook Photo, 800 Baker Street ( you should be familiar with that street name, if I remember my Nelson streets.)

I use Don's Photo, mostly the Saskatoon store and since I live 500km away, shipping is involved. If I don't like it, they accept returns as long as it is not damaged and looks new so great care must be taken. You also can't be throwing hundreds of activations on bodies. Meet or beat anybody else.

does Tamron have a K-mount version of their 150-600? Nice to see the price of the 70-200 but it should be less than the CaNikon versions it doesn't have IS/VR, does it?

considering the money he has made off these images, perhaps he can bring a few homeless Kenyans back home with him so that they can enjoy the same lifestyle as he has. Or perhaps sponsor a Kenyan photographer to come to Britain and look at the lost local wildlife and how the British industrialized areas have done away with habitat. The reality is the western world are hypocrites in that we want to save wildlife and habitat somewhere else but heaven help if have to give up our lifestyle to do it. The people of Africa and South America and Asia who want the same material things and the same futures for their children as we have are denied by do-gooder westerners.

you have to train a store if you intend on doing business on a consistent basis. I find TCS overpriced compared to what I can get locally. Banff store gets some good reviews. Last time I was in Cranbrook, the selection had gone down, however.

Bruce Barnbaum or John Sexton Workshop or other

I am taking a Bruce Barnbaum workshop this spring. I was thinking of taking a couple of 67s to shoot with. Being old enough to remember using film in fair quantities, I think it might have been Chris Ranier, in a article on Tibet who stated, with roll film to overexpose by one stop and underdevelop by 10%. Cover your bases. Or use 3 bodies.

you might be able to get a company like Zork to do something for you. They already make adapters to do stuff like that so it would just be a case of machining the K mount on the back.

Vivitar Professional 135mm f/1.5

I found out about them about 5-6 years ago, then they were promoted on-line a couple more times and I have been watching prices rise for the last couple of years. For the most part. I think the price of K1000s has dropped as well as 50/1.4 M42s, but anything medium and large format, anything considered collectible - boom. I don't think that Vivitar would have hit that amount 3 years ago but then that may be reflective of more demand by mirrorless folks and high end buyers.
