Hey Pete,

Welcome to HK! Fellow Pentaxian here shooting with a K200D!

Check out this link: Hong Kong Photography Club Meetup Group (Hong Kong) - Meetup I think I'm the only Pentaxian there but if you post a message someone might be happy to take you around.
I'm hosting the Nov 6 photo walk and you're welcome to join us if you're still in town.
Meantime, I'm available on Sunday 6:00-9:00pm if you want to do a night shoot of the harbour. I'll be travelling for the next couple weeks so will not be available until I get back on on the first week of Nov.

Have a nice stay.

I live in HK and do some shopping (in person) from Tin Cheung. I recently (within the past six months) bought a Sigma EF 350 flashgun and a sigma 18-250mm OS from them. In both instances the price listed on the website is about 10-20% higher than the price I paid. As has been said the website is not updated and especially for Pentax products. It's best to call and check if the item you want is in stock and ask for the actual price before you order.

Do you have to make EXIF data public on flickr? Why, why not?

Thanks for all your (informed, funny, sarcastic, etc:lol:) inputs. Some people have actually requested for EXIF on some of my photos. I've decided to make it accessible.

Some say you shouldn't for privacy reasons. But others argue it is helpful to other photographers? Would appreciate your opinions and experiences. Thanks very much in advance.

Too true. Flickr: banitess' Photostream

I used a K1000 as a serious hobbyist during my student days before career and family took over my life. Re-entered the world of photography in Sept 2009 when my wife gave me a Canon SX20, which had just been launched. I liked the SX20 but within months knew I had to have a DSLR. Did some research and almost fell for Canon, Nikon marketing hype. The shop I went to was filled with Nikons and Canons but had a K200D that was on sale, the last item leftover from the previous shipment. I gave it to myself as a Christmas gift in Dec 2009.:)

I saw one recently go over US$100 on ebay and there aren't that many out there. Yet it doesn't seem to be an outstanding lens based on the reviews on this forum. So why is it so pricey?

This town probably has more photographers per capita that any other city in the world (most own more than one camera) and I've only seen three Pentaxes so far, one is mine.:( Oh wait I've seen a few white K-Xs (Japanese tourists)

Excellent responses!!:)

Thanks for the recommendations. It seems the 50mm and Takumars are quite a favorite. FYI I recently got a Pentax 50mm, 1.7 and it hasn't left my K200D yet.

Stover and Jboyde, great photos!

Thanks and again.

Hi all, I know its the age of digital and auto focus but does anyone here still use a good, old-fashioned manual lens as default on his/her DSLR? If yes, which one and why? Thanks!

Thanks again Tumble. In the shop I got it from, the largest hood was the 77cm followed by the 72cm and they both looked huge even without the lens. I can imagine how gigantic and intimidating your camera and lens are in person. Really BAD-ASS!:D

Thanks Ovim. Unfortunately I don't have PP yet but I'm planning to get one. For now I don't retouch my pics except for some cropping with Windows or resizing with Irfanview.

As to linking the photos, truth is I haven't quite mastered how to do that yet so it's easier for me to cut and past the link.:)
