Cactus V6II -- Pentax version of the X-TTL firmware available

This is great that we have another option now. Looking forward to a review of the user experience of using it practically. So, the RF60 will work for remote HSS TTL without a receiver attached to it?

Many great shots in this thread, but these are fantastic! Love the clarity! According to your exif, many of these were taken at around 100mm, there must be close vantage points for you to get these shots?

Raymond, thanks for sharing your HSS work. I think you are balancing the flash to ambient very well. Are all of these images taken with the Neewer 32" modifier? Do you shoot with the camera in Manual mode?

Why are all the Lighting manufactures ignoring Pentax....?

I have the same frustrations as the OP. I fully changed my lighting from Yongnuo to Godox recently. Godox is the real up and comer in the third party flash market. For the third party manufacturers, of course support for Canon and Nikon is a no-brainer. They dominate the market. But the fact that Godox has added TTL support for Sony, Fuji, and even Olympus/Panasonic, without any plans to support Pentax is telling...

Godox AD360 II-N works on Pentax with Cactus V6 II

This will be good news. Godox has just achieved TTL working across brands with their triggers and flashes. Meaning, if you have a Sony camera, and a Godox X1TS trigger made for Sony, and a Godox V860ii flash made for Canon, the trigger can control the flash. Unfortunately, Godox does not have Pentax support, so it doesn't really help us Pentax users much with TTL.

I agree with Class A, if you want to get rid of shadows, bounce your flash off of a wall or ceiling or some large white object. This would not require you to get an umbrella yet.

The biggest rule to learn first is that the bigger the light source in relation to your subject, the softer the light will be on your subject. Your flash head is tiny, walls and ceilings are big.

K3-II + V6 II + XT32C + AD200 = HSS frustration :(

To be honest, I haven't used it that much since it doesn't work in HSS. In many ways, it's a simpler interface. If you are working with only one flash, I think it is the way to go. If you are working with multiple flashes though, I like the fact that you can see the power levels of three flashes at once with the X1. Yours is the first report that I have seen that any Cactus firmware past 1.06 worked for Pentax HSS.

To be honest, I could not follow all that you were doing in your post, but I will pass along my experience. When I got my AD360, I got the Godox X-1TC transmitter to go with it. Everything worked as expected. I wanted to do HSS with it. I got a Cactus V6ii and followed the instructions in one of the Godox Cactus HSS threads. I put the X1 on top of the V6 ii and HSS worked, and to my surprise worked with my K-5iis in AV mode as well. I also bought the Godox XT32C transmitter, and it works fine in the hot shoe by itself, but it does NOT work for HSS when I put it on top of the V6 ii. As was stated in other threads, the latest firmware versions for the V6ii prevent HSS from working for Pentax. I think it's the last 3 versions that do not work. I think they are up to version 19, but you have to go back to 16 for HSS to work for Pentax.

Anyone getting the Godox AD200?

I don't think it matters too much. I am using the X1T-C for mine. I think the general consensus has been that with Nikon you might get the wake function to work with them whereas that will not work for the Canon version.

Flash modifiers - anyone try the Lastolite Ezybox Speedlight 2.

I would stick with the Foamie. It's all about the size of the light source. The foamie will give you the same size as the Lastolite. I tested a ton of things DIY and otherwise. It's just strictly size and ease of use. There is no magic modifier for on camera flash.

If you are only going to solder the middle lead, why are you swapping it? Why not use the Canon Sunpak as is?

Right, TTL will not work. Based on past history, the Nikon might allow flash wakeup, but other than that, they should work the same.

As with other flashes, the way to get Pentax HSS to work is to stack a Godox trigger on top of the Cactus V-6ii trigger in the camera hot shoe.

I was able to do HSS with a Godox X-1C trigger mounted on a Cactus V6ii, with the X-1 triggering both a Godox V850ii and an XT16 Receiver attached to an AD360.

I know someone had reported difficulty with Cactus V6ii and Metz flashes before. I am not sure of any outstanding issues with them though. I assume that you have checked with Cactus on the compatibilty with the particular Metz flash units you are using?

Oh, so you are using the Cactus receiver as well? If that is doing all you need, then maybe it's easier.
