Limiting individuals' and groups' access to electronically-managed funds is certainly possible and happens. Of course, it was possible and happened long before currencies were de-coupled from gold reserves and money managed electronically. However, putting such limitations into large-scale or wholesale effect against law-abiding citizens in a civilised society is actually rather difficult and has inherent, potentially catastrophic risks - but we're drifting into politics, including civil and international war scenarios... well outside the realms - and against the rules - of these forums; so, best we stop there ;)

Every system or sub-system of money - whether virtual or physical - is subject to risk factors.... even a stash of gold coins has security and volatility risk - a convincing scammer or dedicated, persistent thief can defraud you of your electronic money and squirrelled-away krugerrands alike, and the monetary worth of anything - cash, equity, security, commodity, derivative - is governed by and subject to supply and demand, which changes second by second in the global financial markets. If and when society fails, your cash or gold are going to be as worthless as virtual money in practical terms. People are going to be interested in your stores of food, water, sanitary products, medicines, fuel, clothing... perhaps the shelter and safety you can provide (whether by invitation or force), or the practical skills and services you can offer; not your piles of cash or gold. Some of those - the physical items essential to healthy living - might be good assets to stockpile for future bartering if you can store them in quanity for long enough and secure them adequately, but they're not much good to you in the present day when it comes to paying your phone bill, settling your taxes, paying for medical treatment, getting your car serviced, buying that fancy new camera or lens etc. :o

To avoid or navigate the forthcoming doom you portend, what do you propose as a practical, liquid, easily-transportable / transferrable, low-risk alternative to "virtual money" that would allow individuals to pay for essential and discretionary services and products on a day-to-day basis in the here and now?

15% off sale at Pentax Australia

Yep..... 10% gst even on second hand goods. As well as Import brokerage fees to get an item cleared by customs.

I had a lens years ago grabbed by Customs, I was issued with a 10% gst, and the only way to get it thru customs and pay the 10%gst was to engage an Import Broker, and pay them a fee to do it..................

Last bigger item I bought from Japan, from ebay, I paid the listed price on the bay, then, after I paid, I was contacted by the courier service, they noted that the item would have gst upon import into australia, and I had to pay the 10%gst to them, also an Import brokerage fee, before they would even pick-up the item to deliver to me.

Depends where you buy it from and which carrier is used.

Buying from a private seller that sends the item via post is your best chance of avoiding any GST.

If you buy from eBay or a seller that does a lot of business in Australia you will have to pay 10% GST on the total price (value of item + shipping costs) and depending on the carrier, a customs brokerage fee (DHL's fee is AUD 110).

Some places like B & H Photo allow you to pay all charges in a single transaction, others you have to sort out the GST and import fees with the carrier before they deliver.

What unlimited free photo websites are good?

I understand that this may not be Michael's question, but I've long stopped looking for a free photo hosting site. Those that I tried or looked at just weren't doing it for me. Also, providing such hosting is a service, one that incurs costs and one that I value highly if done properly, and so I'm perfectly okay with having to pay for it within reasonable limits. So far, SmugMug has done exactly that for me.

Then not specifically to the Spotmatic. The Art Deco AOCo logo was used on all Pentax (and pre-Pentax) cameras from 1952 to 1980. I've had a few - MX, K2, 6x7.

Intel Atom chipsets and BIOSes are notorious for causing difficulties when installing and running linux. Problems with booting, or enabling devices such as HDMI, audio and wifi, seem pretty common - but there are folks who've done it. You'd need to do some research before installing, I think. Here's a blog page from someone who got Linux Mint running on a Minis x5-z8350 (not the same machine as yours, but should give you a head-start on the things to look for):

https://davidegironi.blogspot.com/2019/10/linux-mint-on-z83-f-intel-atom-x5-z8350.html

An alternative would be to set up a linux virtual machine on your main PC. That would allow you to try out one or more linux distros without affecting your current Windows installation...

I switched to this lens from a Sigma 10-20 f 3.5. I like it. Haven’t needed it often due to pandemic but I like it when I need it.

I did have the use of a DA* 11-18 for week and my real world comparison said the 8-16 was more than adequate in comparison considering my uses and the price delta.

Excellent lens. Highly recommended.

I use internal clip series ND filters, which work a treat with this or any lens.

Is there A Pentax Lens Profile Database for Lightroom?
Posted By StationX
Replies: 22
I take it you will have downloaded these using the Adobe Profile Downloader, which is no longer accesable unless you buy or rent Adobe Photoshop, this for me and probably a good few others is a problem as I can't find any of them anywhere else.

Do you have any of the ones I am looking for?

I may PM you an email address to send them to if you wouldn't mind.

Once I have the profile files I know it's just a simple case of dropping them into the correct folder to be able to use them.

Now if these profiles were attached to the Lens reviews in the lens database then this problem would be resolved for everyone... :)

How to update Lightroom to support K-1 II

It is possible to update old stand alone versions of Lightroom with additional lens and camera profiles. These are bundled with the free download of AdobeCamera Raw/DNG converter. Download and install then copy the relevant profiles to your custom profile location as detailed here Where are the lens profiles? - Adobe Support Community - 8990892
It works for my K1mk2 and lenses newer than the last version of Lightroom 6.14.

You need to use the tools available and mark it sold that way, not just say it's sold in the title. On the right hand side of your first post, you'll see the words "Mark Item as Sold" click on that and the ad will be moved to our sold section.
