Thanks. I was tipped off by another photographer with a super telephoto on an expensive looking tripod. I just pointed my Pentax zoom where he had his aimed.

I shoot Pentax because my sister gave me a K10 D for christmas a few years ago. She has been shooting Pentax since she had a K1000 many years ago. She recently graduated to a K1, and I am hoping to inherit her K 3.

Ouch! Nice lens but not in my affordability range.

---------- Post added 03-18-18 at 03:08 PM ----------

Those images are great! Perhaps a newer camera is the best spot for my cash. My sister got herself the new full frame pentax for xmas. Maybe she will sell me one of her old cameras if I am lucky.

---------- Post added 03-18-18 at 03:13 PM ----------

Nice work! I think I have a slightly different version of the same lens - Mine reads HD Pentax - DA 55-300 ED WR - I think maybe I need to study lightroom and processing options.

---------- Post added 03-18-18 at 03:16 PM ----------

I guess I should get lightroom and learn to use. I think I have a trial version that came with my camera a long time back.

Thanks, a newer body like a K3 is another thing I am considering.

Thank you. I would surely love the DA 300 but it's beyond my budget.

I am thinking of investing in a 300 - 400 mm prime for my k10d , that would be sharper than the zoom I have now (DA 55-300 ) , and I am on a low budget- so older lenses, probably. Any ideas or any particular lens that works well for you? I mostly use the telephoto for wildlife.

Remote shuts off after a minute or so.....

My sister requested I ask this question here :

"I recently bought a Pentax remote (O-RC1 if that matters). Works fine but shuts off after maybe one minute so I have to go back to the camera and press the shutter again. This is not helpful when trying to shoot hummingbirds, who are not respectful of my technical limitations and seem to come to the feeder as soon as my remote de-activates. The K1 manual does not discuss this."

Anyone have this issue and or a solution? Thanks

Has anyone tried this lens on the K1 in terms of full frame coverage? My sister just ordered a K1 and kit lens, but wants to get a prime lens like the Sigma Art 35 when her bank account gets back off life support from buying the K1. I thought maybe the plastic fantastic 50 would be good in the meantime since it is inexpensive, relatively and she also has the K3 and K10 crop sensor. Thoughts? Experiences?

Could be, I just bought the lens from an ebay seller. $15 in minty condition. 10 years old ? Twenty? I don't know. This was my first test of the thing. K Mount- It has an aperture ring, but no "A" setting. They had it listed as auto focus in one part of the listing, and manual in another. For $15 I did not care which. :)

Going old school all the way. I picked up and old manual lens ( JC Penney 28mm ) and put the camera in manual mode (green button metering) . Like the color, but not the sharpest lens in the world. This was about f 5.6 .. I was using the depth of field scale to set the focus because I just cant see to focus clearly with a 28mm lens. Anyway it was a pretty day here in New Jersey.

There is a facebook group called "ebay for business " , with knowledgeable posters and which ebay sometimes monitors. You may get positive response if you go there and post your problem. No guarantee, but if you are in the right under ebay policy, you may get the result you want. Worth a shot.

Just got a new "plastic fantastic" 50 mm lens last night, took some test shots this morning. This little shed was some sort of a pump house or something, on the tailrace of the old gristmill across the stream from my apartment, I edited it B&W with Picasa.

Love to watch those hawks fly overhead. I live on the Delaware river, actually about a mile away, and see those all the time because they migrate along the river. Cool.
