Storms were on the way on this particular evening and I got this shot just before it started raining. This was taken at Mountain Run Lake in Culpeper, Virginia.

f/11, 1/100s, ISO 4000
(The exif info is wrong because I forgot to set the focal length when I switched from the 135mm to the 14mm lens.)

Beautiful photos submitted so far!

I took this just before sunrise at the Point in Pittsburgh a couple years ago. I wanted to get this reflection shot and had to get there early because they start the fountain at sunrise. In fact, while I was standing on the edge of the fountain taking photos (complete with tripod), I heard the pool start rumbling and had to scramble to get down before the water started flying. It was a pretty cold morning and that would've been quite unpleasant! :D

This was taken with the K-3 and DA 15 Ltd. f/13, .8s, ISO 100. A bit of HDR processing.

As always, great shots, everyone! Some fine portraits, landscapes and macros here!

A few images taken Monday on a trip down Skyline Drive in Virginia. All taken with the D FA 28-105 lens. I was impressed with the detail this combo can capture under the right conditions. It was a really windy day. But when I got home and reviewed my photos at full size, some of them had an amazing amount of detail and I wasn't able to use pixel shift at all.

I echo the FA 77 recommendations. If you want something longer and don't mind manual focus, the Samyang/Rokinon 135/2.0 is amazing.

I'm anxious to see some reviews of the 20mm from astrophotographers. I have the 14/2.8 and am very interested in adding either the Samyang 20 or 24 for mainly astrophotography purposes. I know the 24 is very highly regarded, but if the 20 is equally good at star photos, I think I'd rather have that focal length.

I've used the 14mm and it's very good, but you might wait and see reviews for the new 20mm/1.8 that's being released very soon. Not as wide but faster. If it has as good image quality as the 14mm wide open, it would be a wonderful astro lens.

Anyone done much astro on the K-1 with FF lenses? (e.g. 15-30, 31)

Many thanks for your kind words! The Milky Way shot was only very slightly cropped, mostly to get rid of a bit of vignetting in the upper right and left corners.

This is a composite of two shots taken with the K-1 and Rokinon 14/2.8.

The Milky Way shot was taken with Astrotracer, f/2.8, ISO 1600, 172s.

I'm ghetto. I just keep a piece of black gaffer tape on the pentaprism at all times. It's hardly noticeable to me. It's there when I need it.

K-1 white dot issue. ?

Same here.

I did the test and did not find a dark band at the top of the frame either. I do see some white dots, though. I have noticed when using Astrotracer and higher ISO's and longer exposures that the white dots do show up and it's pretty obvious. So, if I don't have the dark band, but I do have the white dots, is there a fix or is this considered "normal"?

What's weird is, it doesn't do it every time. I have had 100s exposures with no white dots and 60s exposures with white dots. ?

I agree, the blacksmith photo is fantastic. But all of your shots have a really nice quality about them. You have a unique style that is instantly recognizable, Frederic!

Great shots, everyone! Always inspiring! Rondec, the lightning image is amazing! I have yet to capture lightning. Fantastic!

I know of this cool gothic church building nearby and noticed using the PhotoPills app that the Milky Way appears right behind it. So, I decided to head over last night and try to get a shot of it. Unfortunately, they light the building up like a Christmas tree, so there was no way I could get a decent shot of the MW on site. This is a composite of the church and a Milky Way shot I took with the Astrotracer about 20 minutes later at a darker location.

Taken with the DA*300 and DA 1.4x converter.
