The third aircraft looks like a two seat Seversky P-36, interesting shape whatever the model.

"Ricoh/Pentax has no plans to announce a new camera this fall"

I have! And that is why I jumped at a lightly used K-1 that was listed here at a great price. (I think I said I would take it less than 6 minutes after it was initially posted.) I made the salesman at the camera store take the K-1 back after a minute because I really wanted it two years ago when I tried it out, but knew my budget could not handle the purchase of a new one.

---------- Post added 09-18-19 at 16:38 ----------

I verified the six minute claim from the sold page! The next PM was at the half hour mark I think. I am happy that I jumped though, it is an amazing camera.

Pentax 11-18/KP combo compare Fuji 8-16/XT30 combo

I was surprised at how poor the micro contrast on the Fuji was, especially in the background. Looks like mush up until F/8. And it is even heavier that the 11-18!

FOV makes me think that the bottom image was the K-30 with kit lens. I also think that the top image shows a bit better contrast. If they were SOOC Jpeg it might be easier.

If under $400 USD in value just send it USPS First class parcel and it will be reasonable price-wise. I am not sure on any weight limit for the sub 16.00 postage for a similar item (but lighter than 1 pound.) I sent earlier this year.

I thought that the IBIS in the K-1 and KP was more advanced then the GR's version as far as more axis' involved. 3 versus 5 if I recall mt Pentax propaganda correctly. The video was interesting though and I wish I could head to japan to visit! And then come home with a bag full of souvenirs!

With a warrantee? Definitely worth it. I wish they would re-release this one with HD coatings and curved aperture blades and perhaps a slightly larger body and motor. The original is amazing on APSC. I would jump on this if I didn't have the FA* 28-70 and shorter FL lenses already that cover this range.

New Sony APS-C Sensor - 26MP

I suspect based on the value oriented products they have re-released with new coatings and such, that any of the added and or upgraded features in any new camera body willl have to be able to be added at a reasonable cost in materials and even on software. (Read that as, obsolete to Sony and even Canon, but still better than what is available in the Pentax line currently.)

Ricoh seems to get the firmware pretty close to right before release, but other things like IT seem to be ignored after a few patches, so they had better get it right at release. :).

And two days ago a woman skipped the rear view camera and actually turning her head also, as she backed out into the road and into the side of my car which was stopped for a red light. She was setting a great example for her recently permitted daughter in the passenger seat

Logically it is not from funding as from what we hear from Pentax, they have small teams and development has been ongoing with no news of lay-offs, so it is more likely to be deciding on parts and then making sure the overall experience and quality is up to Pentax standards. Just the software for a different processor and sensor package could be a sticking point, especially if they are moving to a larger buffer, (hopefully,) and or UHS-II. (Just for you Rico!)

Have you seen your head doctor of late? Cameras based on software as a service is a concept from the depths of a Lovecraft story. :p Never, never ,ever will I pay a camera company, especially Sony for this business model.

Find me one that isn't rusted out and runs well enough and passes state inspection after 16 years of Maine winters and salted roads for a reasonable price. ;)When ten year old 4x4 1/2 ton trucks with nearly a quarter of a million miles are going for $17K USD, it isn't happening. Just like the additional cost of an EVF is not for me.

No EVF for me after trying a neighbors Sony with EVF, it rolled when panned and was clearly inferior to My OVF on the K-1, K-5IIs, and KP. (At least to my eyes. YMMV!)

This also applies to areas in a liquor store where there are wines in racks that are exposed to the UV from fluorescent lights, they will oxidize badly if not old quickly. Not that I am a drinker or anything like that.

Wouldn't that have been a winter garage project if it needed any restoration? It is OK to buy something that is a deal because it is pretty and well crafted you know! :)That is how I ended up with a K-1! :)

Why persist in using legacy manual lenses

Very true in my case, even when using the O-ME magnifier on my KP and K-5IIs! I am working through all my FF capable lenses and need to hit my old Vivitar Series 1's and my M and A series lenses. The FA* lenses are very usable as manual focus lenses with the K-1.

Sensor Shake/Cleaning

Shoot an image of a blue sky or white wall at a small aperture like f/22 and you will see if you actually need to do a sensor cleaning. Unless there is a lot of sticky stuff in the air when you are changing lenses, a blower will probably be all that is needed. I bought wet sensor cleaning swabs when I had my K-50 but haven't needed it with my KP or K-1 (Yet at least.)
