I don't know how I missed this thread.

- When you bought a film camera for a reason to have film canisters again.
- When your camera bags keep seeming to get smaller.
- When you buy another memory card to avoid filling your hard drive up completely.
- When you do additional wiring, buy another desk, and all sorts of accessories to maintain a "professional" photo printer you use 5 times a year.
- When you rationalize photography purchases as future "gifts" to family members.

Yes, I do prefer the Panasonic WOW and menus, but for solidity and relaxed handling, I am enjoying the E-M1. The menus I find comprehensive, but not too bad.

I finally recently got a Panasonic 15mm and am loving that. Colours and sharpness are great. Will post up as I process some more.

Edit. I picked up a second hand Olympus E-M1 II recently for travelling and hiking in bad weather. It was so good having a pro level camera again. Not 100% sold on Olympus Jpg sharpening (turned down) and the files are different to work than Panasonic ones, but starting to get the hang of it.

A Panasonic 20mm given to another forum member. Great lens, but I like the 15mm (30mm FL equivalent) better.

Happy with my Highlander hybrid. 7 seats (although cramped in the back row) lots of space in the boot and actually has a tow rating. 6.4l/100km when vehicle only and averaged 8.4km100km on a recent 4400km road trip with a 1250ish kg 22ft RV trailer. Not flat roads, either. Gas electric is still the only option for a rated towing capacity here.

Hey, no problem. I respect your point of view.

For reference, and because most people have no clue about what I do, here is a good summary.

Truly shocking.

Considering what taxol started as, plausible, but hey, why do we need science to prove OK?

I have a professional interest in this on the manufacturing quality side. About this much in the USA (the largest market). For the most part, the industry does not work this way (what drives me to go to work is ensuring that patients taking medicine can safely ensure that it is manufactured and transported safely). However, when you get marketing and sales perversions, bad things happen.

It's significant in that we rely on pharmaceutical companies to improve outcomes and provide live saving medicines. I would say that it is balanced between the manufacturers, the technical agencies, and the government structures. IMO, the issue is allowance of lobbying (USA example) to distort this relationship. As an example, look at how many interactions happened for ~20 years (!) regarding opioids, just for the FDA.

Of course I grew up with access to a centralized health care system (and live in another country that has one), and did not need to often purchase medicines. Preventive health is much cheaper!

Good to hear folks are starting to get their shots, and that all the palaver/wastage with the DHBs has been reined in.
My brothers were both in Group 2 so have gotten theirs, but my folks have not as yet. Not too happy about that. If you get COVID when you are above 70 you have a fairly good chance of getting really sick/die, no predicted outcomes, real demonstrated ones that I have seen far too many of here.

So, all good getting the vaccines!

You have to have the vaccine supply to do so, but. It took until May here, but most people jumped as soon as it did, and now we have one of the highest rates in the world. I expect no less from everyone, competitive bunch. Just as well, as the US border is opening Monday.

I finally caved and bought Vuescan today. I've been trialing it for a month in combination with Darktable on Linux, and really am liking it (DNG output!). Happy to support a company that allows me to use my 2008ish scanner. Rescan of an image from 2004.

Perfect. Yeah that works. The securing clip on the M42 adapter has disappeared on me, but all else is well!
I really am surprised at how competent the Super Program is at all this (being the first "A" mount camera).

I have a Super Program, and an A 50mm F1.7.
I also have some Takumars and an official K mount adapter. I used to use these on my film MZ-5N.

I am having a memory block as to metering steps on the Super Program.

Form memory I can meter directly in Manual or Aperture priority (lens set to manual).

I don't think I need to do DOF/stop down metering, right?

I also can't use the auto setting on the Takumar, right?

Thanks!
Aaron
