Book on lighting?

Not a printed book (not sure if that would be available from this), and I think it's mainly focussed on lighting with flash(es), but that seems to be the go-to address for many people: Strobist: Lighting 101: Introduction

There are WR lenses that do zoom externally, and they do suck in air while zooming, so it's possible.

No Pentax camera or lens to see here, but some of the photos produced with those: Oktoberfest-Fotos von Volker Derlath: Die Wiesn ? das war's - DER SPIEGEL
German write-up about Volker Derlath, who photographed the Münchner Oktoberfest for 35 years, 1984-2019, with two Pentax LX cameras, one equipped with a 35, the other with a 50, and one or both with a flash. All images shot on black and white film. He released an illustrated book with his photos, some of those can be seen at the link I posted.

Would it be possible to take the existing functionality, to mark a forum or subforum as read by double-clicking the symbol next to it, and expand it to work for threads/topics as well?

Thanks. Well, for Instagram I cropped in to the bird in 1:1 and not much around it. Here I thought I'd share the full frame and who likes to zoom in can do so on flickr. This shot is what the PLM on the K-S2 could get me without the bird flying away. But from now on the decision for me will be if I'll go for 300/4 or 420/5.6

Cool EXIF add on for Firefox

Yes, that's what I'm using that in.

Just to give you an idea, I'm using the first picture here Oldtimer at a Wedding - PentaxForums.com

It shows this when hovering over the picture, and I've also attached a picture of the menu you get to by clicking on the logo. As you can see, you can even choose to only see the EXIF by hovering over the logo instead of the whole picture, disable it for some sites or globally, and decide a bit what data should be shown.
Sometimes for smaller pictures the info in the overlay will not be readable because the text does not scale down until it would be, but you can open the menu for that then.
When info on the lens has been edited into the EXIF file, it will show as well, but it does not do that for OOC pictures or those I developed with DxO, just as flickr for example will not be able to show what lens was used if that hasn't been added by another software.

I'm using EXIFY. It shows the info at the bottom of the picture when you point the mouse over the picture. Made me see the EXIF even when I wouldn't have ever thought about looking at it, for example on product pictures on amazon... :D

After having already sent my post I thought you might also have meant the difference between the "prosumer" models like K-5 and K-3 and the "amateur" models like K-50...

iirc the K-S1 has only one control wheel and is not WR? The K-S2 has two wheels and is sealed. The K-S2's body is still quite small, I think smaller than the K-50, but a little bigger and heavier than the K-S1. Also a fully articulating screen like the K-70 has, SAFOX X instead of IX+ AF module, GN12 instead of GN10 built-in flash, and WiFi built-in. Apart from that only little differences, different button layout (but the same functions addressable via buttons I think), and imaging-wise they seem to be the same. Not built as tank like as the prosumer models, and I've not handled a K-S1, but I think the K-S2 feels a little more like a serious camera than the K-S1 in terms of ergonomics.

Have you handled a K-S2? It's a different body than that of the K-S1. If you have, what did you not like about it?

Under-exposure with "Sunny 16" rule

I shot a roll of ISO 100 black and white film (just to test the camera) on my ME that doesn't have a working light meter, so I am stuck at 1/100 s exposure time with it. I eyeballed what aperture to set based on brightness, and that seemed to have worked most of the time. No award winning pictures, but some I quite like. I don't think I have stopped down to f/16 once, mostly f/8, but it was an overcast day iirc. Colour film may not be that forgiving, but it was fun trying to guess and seeing the results later.

You could get even closer with the 21, though it didn't sound like you want to get much closer (understandably) :D But I think it might be worth it to experiment with one of the wider lenses as well.

I often think a shot looks like a winner when reviewing it on the camera display, but am disappointed when viewing it on the big screen.

I also had the opposite happen: a shot looked bad (colours blown out) on camera, but turned out ok on the big screen.

Quality and size of the camera screen are to blame for both cases.

Apart from that I think it happens more often to me that I think a shot is really good, but when editing or just looking at it longer or later again, my impression of the shot worsens. The other way around I rarely encounter.

Sorry to leave you hanging here... this month made me realize, even though I was a little occupied with preparing for a friend's wedding and going on a holiday myself right after that, that I can't hold up with SIC every day. I'm going to work through my backlog, post a few more pictures taken with the 77 this last month and look through your pictures over the next days...

I think I will participate in future SICs, but not try to make it a daily thing, perhaps shooting every other day and combing through and posting the pictures in between is a more realistic, yet still challenging goal for me.
