Aha, I thought you used flammable gas to burn the dust away, instead of wet cleaning. :D

K10/20D Forum

It might not be that much traffic in a specific forum for these cameras.
You would most likely get more responses if discussing these old camera in the general DSLR forum.

Is there a specific reason you want a forum now like 15 years after the release?
I think the main reason for creating camera specific forum is that when cameras are new they generate a lot new discussions.

Using aperture ring on DSLR: why not same as on Super Program?
Posted By Fogel70

Pentax DSLR and some late SLR use a "crippled" K-mount which lack the mechanical parts for sensing the aperture position when aperture ring is out of A-position.

In Pentax K-3III Ricoh have added software functionality to solve this limitation, but it is not as straightforward as using aperture ring on an older SLR.

Unbranded Aliexpress Lens?
Posted By Fogel70

It is looks like a generic design sold under many brands.

I have seen Vivitar 50/1.7 looking like that too, and it is perhaps the same as Phenix/Centon 50/1.7 among a few brands.
Aliexpress may have bought clearance stock from the manufacturer unbranded as I do not think any of these brands sell that lens anymore.

I suspect the coating is the weak point. A used Pentax M 50/1.7 may be a better deal for that price.

But I like the idea of having an unbranded lens.

AW/WR prime

There is a "D FA large aperture wide angle prime lens" on the road map to be released 2022 or later. Probably something like D FA* 35/1.4 in line with D FA* 50/1.4 and D FA* 85/1.4. But it has been on the road map for many years, so it is difficult to know when it may be released.

Ricoh imaging registration BC-186 Battery charger

From what I can see in KF specification it still use the same micro USB connector as K-70
And the BC186 charger is included with the camera, so I doubt KF has in camera charging.

Clear-View Viewfinder in the new Pentax KF

It is both. From K3 III press release.

QuoteQuote:

A new, super-bright optical viewfinder delivers a nearly 100% field of view and magnification of approximately 1.05 times. With a newly developed high-refraction glass prism, the viewfinder provides a wide field of view equivalent to that of a full-frame SLR, fully immersing the photographer in shooting.

The "Natural-Bright-Matte-III" has been used for some time, probably since at least K-7.

Clear-View Viewfinder in the new Pentax KF

It is not Pentax marketing that says it is "brand new". That claim comes from SRS.

BTW K-3 III viewfinder is called "Super-Bright" not "Clear-View".

Ricoh did not say "brand new", seems like srs added that..

"Clear-view optical viewfinder" sounds just like a buzz-phrase from marketing. But it is most likely just the same as in K-70.
The prism in K-70 (and other entry level bodies since K-30) was already the same as in higher-level bodies like K-3, K-3II and KP.
They did not say that the prism in KF is the same as in the current high-level Pentax DSLR - K3 III.

From K-70 press release.

Is DA 300 converted to screw drive? If so I'm not sure if the AF-switch on the lens affect AF?

Maybe this could be a problem with screw drive converted lenses?

Question regarding the new forthcoming Pentax DFA 100mm f/2.8 WR macro lens

B&H are wrong as they specify minimum focus distance as 5.1". They apparently have mixed up minimum working distance with minimum focus distance. They also use the term "minimum focus working distance" in the description which seems to be a mix of both.

Pentax KP or Pentax K-1?

If you want to use two cameras in parallel, it can be a huge advantage to have two of the same camera.
Switching back and forth between cameras with different control layout and design can be a pain.

Especially with astrophotography in the dark, where you may need to rely on muscle memory for the control of the cameras.

It is 13cm from front of the lens, but minimum focus distance is 30.3 cm (from senor).

Although it is probably not the best translation.

The description from Ricoh Imaging JP is better IMO.

Cap Chronology?

I do not is going to be easy to sort this out. I believe there have been more than a dozen different logos used on the caps, and I think they may have varied between batches on one lens, and it may also differ between markets. Sometimes they just differs in the font used on the logo.

Here are a number of them, but I do not think these are all versions.

The 100mm f/2.8 E all black look should be standard on all Pentax lenses

Yes, those classic design elements that dates back to the 50s are really nice.
They are both good looking, functional and of high quality.

And it would give Pentax lenses something that stand out from the generic look on lenses from most brands today.

It seems that Ricoh use reverse logic when in comes to naming of cameras.
A camera that is a whole new design like K3 III get a mk III name, but when K70 get a minor update that would justify a mk II name, it get a new name instead.

So I really hope the upcoming FF camera will be a mk III model, and do not get a new name.

KM?. It came out in 2008, long before KP.

K3 mark 1 stops copying to both memory cards

Did you check memory card setting when this happened?

If removing one card and then switch on the camera, it may switch to sequential use as it no longer can save it to both cards.
And it will probably keep the sequential setting after inserting the second memory card again.

So I recommend checking memory card setting after you insert the memory cards again.

I do not think Canon or Nikon has ever licensed their IP.
But they lately they seems to be more protective of their IP. Like when Canon threatened to sue Viltrox over patent infringement.

Back when the camera market increased every year they saw 3rd party manufacturers differently.
And back then 3rd party lenses were generally of lower quality.

They have already updated the firmware to support KAF3 and KAF4 lenses as you can see in the supported lens list (although they are not yet support PLM motor). Other lenses may also work but the function is not verified and guaranteed. Just like Pentax do not guarantee function on 3rd party lenses.

It is possible to do without your own cameras, but it makes it more difficult.
How many recent lenses for mirrorless has Tokina developed by their own?

Do you think it was by chance that Sigma used Canon EF communication protocol on their DSLRs?

Sony has supported screw drive AF för A-mount lenses on E-mount cameras for over 10 years.
There also a third party adapter that support screw drive AF on K-mount lenses for E-mount cameras.

But who would be interested in a camera like this? The point of using K-mount on mirrorless would be to get full support on K-mount lenses. As an alternative for buying a Pentax DSLR.
It would not really be that interesting for existing K-mount users, and not for users outside K-mount.

A mirrorless camera from other manufacturer with an AF-adapter would be a better choice for existing Pentax users.
