It depends very much in how you are measuring it. smaller pixels give smaller noise, which is less noticeable at similar magnification relative to the frame. when pixel peeping noise will be more obvious but you also dive deeper in to the image. With how much of a smaller pixel you can away with depends on technology. Diffraction also plays a role. smartphone size pixels on a full frame sensor will give you hundreds of megapixels (a sensor with iPhone 8 pixels would have 600mp). But is there any glass that can resolve it? The noise will all be under any level of detail.

I value my speculation more than yours. I didn't say it will not come. I said it will not come anytime soon. Also I do not think it will be in line with the K-7/K-5/K-3 line. What it will be if it comes will depend on the market. It may even be mirrorless for all I know.

Not a word was said about such camera on Photokina. They showed a GR III that wasn't ready though. Why not show a K-3 II successor like they did the K-1? After the KP came out they said they were researching a K-3 II successor. At cp+ they said they were working on it while they had just discontinued the K-3 II. They should have had it ready or made a K-3 III with less significant update (denoising processor, improved AF algorithms). But they didn't. I think they do not know what direction to go with aps-c. a flagship aps-c model is expensive to develop. Because there is now full frame it has to compete with the K-1, so they will sell much less. I think the focus is now on the K-1 successors A high megapixel landscapers camera and a fast 24mp variant to cover different enthusiast needs. Enthusiasts are the main target audience now that entry level gets taken over by smartphones. The KP was an attempt to attract a certain type of enthusiast shooter that wants a more compact system. But Ricoh can't really compete with Fujifilm or Canon in that market, because mirrorless is always going to be more compact. Aps-c has become difficult for Ricoh. They want to keep those people on board so they put this lens on the roadmap, but I think they want to draw as many people as possible into full frame. After they saw the success of the K-1 they have refocussed and moved forward the development of the next model. The K-1 is the true successor of the K-3 line. They just never told us.

To me it feels like aps-c is out of focus for Pentax. Sure there is this lens on the timeline but all I hear about for the future is new Full frame DSLRs.

It would also help with the frame rate, but Sony also has a 42mp sensor. Just not on this map.

Products Line up for Camera Image Sensor for Camera | Sony Semiconductor Solutions Corporation

The IMX410 and IMX571 are probably most relevant for Pentax dslrs.

Post-Processing Postprocessing Challenge #272 - Cyclists

After a first selection I have cut it down to glenn5995, todd and AJC. Tuggie76 also gave me a good laugh adding hills. Where I live everything is super flat so it looked quite disconcerting to suddenly see a bunch of hills rise up.

Now the choice between glenn's plate edit, todd's and AJC's coloured one. I decided I liked Todd's better than AjC's because of detail retention and the way the yellow sigh stands out against the more desaturated background. So that made it between todd an glenn, which is a really hard choice. Both pics give the image a certain classic and aged look, both I like. Carson was pushing me So I tossed a dime and it came heads up for glenn who is the winner of this contest. Congratulations @glenn9559 !.

A bought an Olympus TG-850 (second hand but barely used) to take with me on biking trips, without worrying about it getting wet (since it can go ten feet under water). Special charactaristics a flippin' selfie screen and 21mm equivalent wide end.

edit pic with the czj ddr Tessar 50/2.8

I am guessing they don't have new AF yet so there is no point in bringing out a new camera.

Of course the UHS-II card speeds will not be achieved. The K-50 supports up to SDXC so it will revert to the speeds it can achieve with that. UHS is backward compatible.
