I brought along the wrong charger for my K-7, and my battery is dying.

If anybody has a spare charger (its the K-BC90) then can lend or sell me, please PM me. I'm able to come by and pick it up anytime.

Don't let this beautiful scenery go to waste!

The K10d does not have this bug, so I would expect it to expose correctly

Live View on the K7 is no better than regular. I dont have a K5.

I dont really have the time to test all these parameters. All I know is if the flash is bounced, it over exposes. Always.

I just tested with the K-01, exposure was perfect with the flash up. I will try to post some pics later.

Also retested with K7 and it did overexpose (with flash dialed back -1.5 exposure was good)

I have a K7 and 2 AF540s, and can confirm that this bug is present. As Noam, I did a bunch of tests myself to confirm this. Simply moving the flash a tiny bit up causes the camera to overexpose by about 1.5 stops. I've taken to dialing back the flash by 1.5-2 stops to give my pictures some hope, but it does result in many way underexposed shots.

I will not buy a new Pentax camera until this bug is fixed.

Anvh, the reflections should not be relevant because with the flash pointed straight you have the exact same reflections.

I love the feel of this photograph. Though I wish I had capture more detail in the smoke.

Lots of purple flare, as the sun was in the scene (cropped out)

I would love to hear your comments and critiques.

Why people complain about Pentax AF and Flash

Saying that its photographer error misses the point. The problem is I, as the photographer, cannot rely on the camera to focus on the subject. The photo crosshair posted is a perfect example, any decent camera should've focused correctly. I have plenty of similar examples myself, where the auto-focus becomes a distraction, something taking my attention away from other important aspects of the photo.

There is no question that Pentax AF has plenty of room for improvement. If other brands are any better, I do not know, as I've not used any other brand camera extensively enough to know.

As I previously posted, I don't need 11 points, I just need one that is accurate and fast. My AF selector never moves off center point.

Me too. Can't remember the last time I (purposely) used any focus point other than center. I just want it to focus quickly and accurately.

The number of AF points doesnt change that there was plenty of room for improvement in the AF system. I guess we'll have to wait for the camera to be released to know for sure, but I still have no reason to think pentax is lying when they say they completely overhauled the AF system.

While true, do you have any reason to think its not a complete overhaul?

UV filters ARE important!!!!!

I stopped using UV filters in 2004, when I got my first digital SLR. I had to stop using them, or get much more expensive filters, because I was getting strong reflections off them. Took me a while to figure out the filter was causing the problem, and I had a bunch of really weird pictures due to that.

Since 2004, I've never scratched the front element of any of my lenses.

A Day in Chicago

I'm going to be in Chicago beginning of June, and I have a day with nothing to do. I''ll probably have my K7 along with one or two lenses (21mm and either the 50mm or 70mm). Any ideas where I can spend the day getting some nice shots?

Why is the K7 so terrible? or rather why am i having such a problem with it?

I think you have a defective camera. I have the K7 and while there is a tiny bit of noise at ISO 100, i have no problems with exposures.

This might be why.

Flash and Remote Trigger

I think the most difficult part is that everything works at home when i'm testing, and of course fails when i'm running around at an event trying to shoot.

But I'll definitely give a new cord a shot or try to get the one i have to fit better.

Thanks again.
