Try a k3(any version), the screen is fixed I think? My KP is also pretty weatherproof, even tho the screen does flip up/down

Yup, I picked up the "there's no lens there" lens - the Pentax-DA 40mm F2.8 XS. After 45 years of shooting with a hand under the lens, now there's no lens to speak of there ...

Best zoom macro lens for Pentax?

If you are really looking for a zoom macro, I keep a Pentax-A 35-105mm F3.5 in my bag, does a great job on my KP. Pretty sure that the current 100mm prime will do better on IQ though, might be upgrading to that sometime soon

Too many lenses

Depending on the day, the 18-135 is on the camera, with the 55-300 in the bag - or vice versa. I really like those two, ití just too convenient to frame the shot as much as possible with whatís on the camera. Actually thinking of another KP just so I donít need to swap. I keep a decent ďAĒ series macro (35-105) in the bag, plus the 1.4x converter. Looking at primes lately, esp to replace that macro lensÖ

I drove to Camera Canada and picked up the Pentax 1.4x teleconverter today, mostly for wildlife photos, bolted on to the 55-300 PLM. And of course, on the way home the skies were deserted, nothing to shoot - not a duck, not a crow, not a hawk - nothing stirring! I ended up shooting a streetsign just to make sure everything was working :(

I’ve already added my “bricks and mortar” store endorsement - I don’t know if I’d buy a current lense online …
For “vintage” lenses though, there are a couple of excellent ebay vendors in Japan that I’ve bought K, M and A series lenses from (also an excellent Tamrom 500mm reflex) - when they say “mint”, “near mint” or “clean glass” they mean it!

Another recommendation for Camera Canada from me. I’m close enough that I can drive there, bought my 55-300 PLM there - great people!

Back in the days of film I used a flash fairly frequently. Since I moved to digital (I drive a KP), I have not used a flash once - between SR and higher ISOs, I just donít seem to need it

Who else would like to see a retro Pentax camera ?

I like that the LCD is generally off on my KP
Of course, I kinda grew up with just the “find the middle” needle meter on the SP500, so the fewer blinky lights and distractions, the more I can focus on the shot
I guess I’m just easily distracted…

The SP500 also didn’t have a model number.
I miss my copy of that model, loaned it to a relative and never got it back

Iíve got the 18-135 and am really happy with it, with the new 55-300 at the top end (this lense is just magic tbh). I keep looking at the 18-85, but canít seem to find a good excuse to spend the cash for it

I love shooting with my LX or KX, but my KP is exactly retro enough for a modern camera

Picked up a Pentax A 50mm f/1.4, mostly for astrotracing (if the skies ever clear that is). A replacement / adjunct to the 28mm f/2.8.
It seems like an odd lense to buy, but my only other 50 is a M42 Takumar from back in the 70ís Ö

LX for colour film, KX for B&W.
Daily driver is a KP though, zero consumables and better IQ finally won me over

I bought a nice shoulder bag at the local military surplus, then bought the smaller version for when I need less gear along. Total cost for both was around $30 (Canadian)

Just bought a new 55-300 DA PLM lens. Thinking back, this is my first piece of photo equipment in 45 years that has been purchased new , and after a few shots, it's 100% worth the dollars!

Bag Suggestions - Shoulder, Large

I bought a military shoulder bag for $25 at a surplus store. Tons of pockets for filters, hoods and film (if it’s a film day). I used short lengths of a cardboard mailing tube for lens “slots”, and I couldn’t be happier!
