Will you buy the k3 Mark 3?

When the price drops to $1600, I might buy it. In fact, that's my only beef. It has everything I have wanted in a Pentax. But the price is brutal.

This will be the first Pentax camera where the AF sensitivity starts from -4EV (correct me if I am wrong). All others before this were -3EV. I expect greater AF sensitivity and responsiveness in low light. Very significantly, I expect the HD1.4 TC to work a lot better with lenses having a maximum aperture of F5.6, like the DFA 150-450mm. It is the super telephotos with teleconverters that will see the biggest performance gains. This is something I've waited a long time for. Canon only keeps -4EV for it's top (read most expensive) cameras. Shame about the price though.

Just try cleaning the contacts. It might take several tries but do it. Very often it's just a case of dirty or oxidised contacts.

New K-series DSLR under development to be exhibited

Absolutely. Praying for 150 plus AF points and also autofocusing to improve from Negative EV 3 to EV 4 . This will allow the HD 1.4 teleconverter to work better with lenses of f5.6 or slower. Current capabilities, I believe, are about F4 only.

I won't go into much detail about the proper techniques for shooting with a long telephoto lens as much of that has already been covered here. But let me make two points.
Firstly, it is very important that you calibrate your AF fine focusing with that lens. Do that and you will be able to nail those difficult shots at wide open apertures with a lot more confidence. Secondly. I also have a K5 which I have long stopped pairing with the DFA 150-450mm. That's because the K5 is very slow in AF when combined with that particular lens. You might be able to use it for relatively still subjects but find it very limiting when attempting birds in flight. I believe the K5 does not have the neccessary firmware updates or algorithms to support that lens. Even the more budget oriented KS-2 is streets faster than it with the DFA 150-450mm. If my memory serves me right, most later Pentax DSLRs do not have that issue with that lens. You might consider getting a more recent DSLR body or like me, await the new Pentax APSC flagship (which unfortunately, seems to be taking forever to emerge).

Supporting a D FA 150-450mm lens: Use existing Arca-Swiss ball head or get a gimbal?

Agree. The ball head might get you by. But the gimbal makes it effortless. I use the DFA 150-450mm with the Jobu JR3. Many gimbals are designed for longer and heavier lenses. The JR3 does the job without excess weight and mass.

Tiny circular movement between body and lens when mounted

After some four months of use, I noticed the faintest of jiggles with the DFA 150-450mm on my KS-2. It required the slightest bit of tightening of the tiny mounting screws on both the camera and lens mount. Just about an eighth of a turn with a jeweller's screwdriver did it. I've not had the problem in two years since. The problem was only apparent when the DFA 150-450mm was mounted, no lightweight of a lens at a little over 5 pounds. It's not the first time I have seen this problem with the heavier super tele zooms. I experienced exactly the same thing with a Sigma 150-450mm years ago. The fix was the same.
Cheers

Pentax-DA L 55-300 mm.... Can't quite "reach" far enough

In my rough estimation, 50% of wildlife photography concerns the photography and the equipment. The other 50% is all about figuring out how to get close enough, knowing how to either approach the subject or lie in wait for it and choosing the best vantage point. It probably encompasses a degree of hunting and stalking skills and it helps if you know more about the species. And often times the feeling is that you can never get quite near enough, whichever lens you're using.

Robotic flash gun

I see your point perfectly. It's the reason one might enjoy shooting in manual mode, which is to take charge and be in control of all aspects of the process. But then again there are the times when aperture priority, program mode and other forms of automation come in very handy. Just like AF, they make life a little easier.
Who knows, it might even lighten the workload for a professional photographer who's having a long day or make bounce flash photography easier for a beginner. I see lots of potential.

K1 Mk ii. Is Pentax marketing as dead as Tony Northrup says?

My apologies if it seemed provocative. But he did seem to imply that the marketing wasn't alive, as in the example given about how Ricoh hasn't put up a single video on its Youtube channel for over a year. That seems pretty dead imho. But I admit, those are my words not his.

I might not agree with some of Tony's assertions but certainly I wouldn't dismiss him as an uninformed opinion.
