K1000 light meter

Weird, both my K1000 workhorses are almost perfect with metering, using cheap modern LR44 batteries. One being an original Made in Japan black edition, and the other being a brown leather SE. I've run slide film through both with nearly every exposure being spot on, and a few being off due to mass light variances. I do know that I had had one a while ago that it was about stop off to where it liked things bright. But when I used it, I was just sunny 16 ruling it. That being said the shot you posted actually looks pretty good, and printable to me, but that's personal preference I guess. Your meter could also be fooled if you're using old M42 glass. My SE can't stand metering with my terribly yellowed Super Tak 50.

Haha. All good. That's exactly what I thought at first. Then I rubbed all the mirror gunk off. haha. This seems to be a good fix for it though. Thanks Steve! Should be a good attempt to get it working again.

I don't think so. No foam residue on the mirror, and it's very slightly movable up and down when stuck in the up position, maybe millimeters. I have a feeling it's mechanical, but I didn't know it anybody else had the same problem.

Been thinning my collection lately, and found that my SP500's mirror is sticking up now. The camera's cloth shutter moves fine, but the mirror doesn't fall back until about 6-10 exposures. Any idea's what the problem is or even how to fix?

Thanks
Kyle

I usually use the powder fix and go for about 7 min. Can't see anything wrong with going for ten though as I used to when I developed in caffenol.

Which Manual macro lens good for digitizing film?

I use an Elicar V-HQ 55mm f2.8 Macro. Goes to 1:1 and is some of the sharpest glass I've ever used. I believe it's just a Komine rebrand but I'm not 100% certain about that. You can generally grab them for sub $100 but I was able to get the PKA version for $55. Usually they can be bought under Panagor and Vivitar too.

Oooh. Nice Lens! Try and get your hands on the 55mm f2.8 one, I love using it. It's usually under Vivitar, Panagor, Elicar VHQ, and probably soligor. Great Shots!

I use a Calumet Tripod that I picked up on craigslist for $30, and a Manfrotto #3047 Head. https://www.calphoto.co.uk/product/Calumet-7500-Tripod/CK7500 Tripod is fairly cheap and really well built.

All I need is the brown leather SE K1000, and most definitely my Takumar 50mm f1.4 with M42 adapter. I could shoot Tri-X for days and days and still be okay. Can't go wrong with a fast fifty and one of the best Pentaxes ever.

Anyone ever done this before?

I haven't done that with those lenses before, but I have swapped rear elements on cheap primes before and it can change stuff alot. I would go for it and see what happens. A fun experiment!

Great Setup! I might have to give this one a shot. I currently use three pieces of white foam board taped together and my yongnuo flash, bouncing of course. This seems much better!

FA 50mm f/1.4, or DA LTD 40mm f/2.8?

I have a DA40 limited and I'll say its probably my favorite AF lens overall. 40mm is very nice for just a bit more width. I use the SMC version and its nice and sharp right off the bat.

Really Cheap f1.2? :). Is it open even when you press the shutter button. You can check by putting on a low shutter speed like a second and stopping the lens down. Then look at the lens and see. Or if thats not the case, their might be an option to allow lenses with aperture or something along those lines. Do you have another body to check and see if its a lens to body problem?

Okay. I'll double check with the fellow who is gave me the tanks and see if he has the storage stuff for his chemicals. Chemical wise I have everything in my adorama order so I will probably order within the next few days and hopefully be developing Sunday! He said once I get the jist of developing, he'll let me use his enlarger to print :)

When I do a rinse do I just run the water in the tank or do I have to use another tray? And Fitz your saying to just fill it with water and agitate totally ignoring the whole stop bath thing? Sorry I keep asking questions that are probably answered, the whole developing thing is way out of my league coming from shooting digital, to shooting digital and film, and now attempting to develop and print film. One could say I moved backwards in learning photography :)

Okay so I'll need a little tub of distilled water to dip the negatives in when I'm done? And for rinse he said to just run water over the film like in a sink. Will this do for the wetting agent?
