Help wanted to choose a lens

As somebody who has been toying (for a loong time) with the idea of buying a 18-135, it is the lens I would recomment. But i also have the 50-300, so i would cover 90% of my needs with just two lenses, and both pretty compact. Would fit in a medium sized bag, with some accessories.

But i would not use either sadly, because in the end a limited would end up on the camera. They are such a joy tu use, they are small, but most importantly they are well thought out lenses in any way possible. Small size with nice metal build, quirky lens caps and hoods. The one on the 15 ist for me the worst. I really like the sliding ones, but i understand that for a wide angle lens this would be difficult to implenent.

The 15 and 21 can be nicely used for landscaped, cityscapes (esp. at night with a tripod). The 35 gets a lot less used as it is a macro, and has a long throw. If it misses focus, it has a lot to travel - a bit annoying. The 70 gets used most for taking photos of people, mostly family, and beer (here i like to experiment). 40mm is not something that suits me.

tl;dr: get the 18-135. but i would not buy either.

Is anyone else excited about greater than 30 second manual exposures?

The KP also has something similar, you can use a timed bulb with up to 30 minutes exposure time if i'm not mistaken.

Did you buy the lens new or used? I have read somewhere that with the Sigma dock (i do not know if they are compatible) you can tune parameters related to focus fine adjustment. I am just throwing it out there as i have no experience with the sigma dock.

This might be a stupid question, but where do you change the aperture setting from? That Sigma lens is equiped with an aperture ring that can be used to change settings independent of camera settings. This is not the best way to use the lens and I do not know if this has any effect on focus, but it's the only thing I can think of at the moment.

A posibility would be the Cosina 100mm F 3.5 Macro. It is only 1:2 macro, but at this price it is not a deal breaker. Can be had in Europe for aprox 100 and the reviews are also favorable:

Cosina ( Vivitar etc) 100mm F3.5 MC Makro Lens Reviews - Cosina Lenses - Pentax Lens Review Database

I do or did not own said lens, but there are sone reviews that can help you make up yoir mind.

It is weird and misleading, almost wrong. But they do "come clean" it in the text, so it is not a lie, just marketing (pretty small difference between the two, isn't it?). I am pretty sure a lot of folks will fall for it.

Nothing to see here but a tipical clickbait title. It is clearly stated in the description that it's the worlds first for Aps-c Sony E-Mount

FA lenses are from the film era 645 cameras, and back then the frame size was 56x41.5 mm - that is 1,58x lager than the digital 645. Also the 1.4x TC makes the difference larger, as the image is further "croped".

I am not that good at math, but i would say no more than half of the image circle is used (which in some cases is considerably larger than the size of the frame format the lens was made for).

How about Takumar 200/5.6? It is as small as a tele lens can be, and the wide open performance is gorgeous. Can be had for cheap and is just lovely to use.

I found one Pentax camera, even if not a movie or tv, but in an interesting and unexpected place: the "in use" product photo of a Platypod ultra tripod.

Also saw an unidentified Pentax camera, used by a researcher and elephant seal hunter in a documentary on national german tv. It was mostly about the tribes that live near the north pole.

Zoom lens?

My recommandation goes toward the 55-300 plm. It focuses with the speed of thought and it is compact. From a iq point of view i can not compare it to other 50-300 lenses as i have not own any, but this one seems pretty solid. Second hand it can be had for a reasonable price - got mine for 260 including a couple of extras (spontaneous buy because of price).

The easiest way to explain it is they are both the same (50mm lenses) and the difference is that edges of the frame are covered in an aps-c camera.

It is not what it can or can't do. This is a 100% manual machine, and everything is up to the user: the temperature, pressure, preinfusion and so on. It is all about the experience of making and drinking espresso. It is like a Ford model T more than like a Lambo.

A better one would be this one:

Esperto Competente – ESPCO : La Pavoni

For the same price you also get the pressure profiling kit (and ims baskets), which is the last, but not least, piece in achieving consistent "pulls". I have one for my europiccola and it helps a LOT.

I own both of them. The K3 has probably 5 or 6 years, and the kp was bought soon after it was released. Need less to say the K3 was mostly used as a lens cap the last few years.

The KP has a few features that are for me indisoensable:

1. Using PS for macro work and the LV switch. This is one of my presets for studio work.

2. 5 User modes and a lot of customisable buttons, switches and combinations. I also use wi-fi once in a while to download fotos from my phone, have quick acces to aperture, iso, exposure compensation at the push a button and or rotate a wheel (LOT'S OF WHEELS). The ammount of customisation is close to unlimited.

3. A piece of art - a lot of thought (i probably spelled it wrong, but you know what i mean) was put into this camera, starting with the retro look, then the replaceable grips, possibility add a grip (probably the next step, to use with a large lens setup), and last but not least software fearures and customisation.

I think it my be time to find a new, loving home for it, as it is a shame to let it just sit on the sideline.

And here it is, a quick screen shot of a silve Pentax K1. There was another scene where the owner with camera were in the middle of the frame, with camera lens and neckstrap are clearly visible for the trained eye - sadly could not grab a screenshot.
