K5 - stiff AF select lever / switch

I may have risked damaging the seals but I used a drop of light machine oil on my K5 switch and it moves easily.

Understanding ISO Auto settings

The greyed out items are not compatible with another set mode. If your mode dial is set to Sv you will be setting the shutter speed manually therefore the listed shutter speed settings will be greyed out.

I suggest a much larger dark area around the flower. This would provide even more visual contrast, especially when displayed on a computer screen. Very nice

Enjoy the wedding. I often have reasonable results using spot metering on people when the background is too bright. You could also use manual mode and check the image on the display and adjust as needed, be sure to turn on the histogram as well.

Vintage lenses issues with K5

I have the same problem with my K5 and manual focus lenses. I am more likely to have correct focus confirmation when I set the camera to center point focus. Mostly I use live view as that gives consistently goods results.

Striking picture, I really like it. I think the careful lighting, pose, and background make this feel like an advertisement image more than a portrait.

Check the diopter adjustment. It's the little slider above the viewfinder. It might have gotten bumped out of focus

Thirteen is a nice size group. In my experience you will need to work fast as you really can't keep peoples attention for more than a minute - especially children. Before posing anyone, look at the subjects and decide on a plan, then do it. If you are quick and confident everyone will be comfortable and look good.

Spot meter on the part of the scene you want exposed correctly, press the AE-L button to lock the exposure settings, Focus and recompose.

My opinion as to why people like the picture but you think it isn't great: It's better to have an average quality picture of a great subject than a technically great picture of an average subject. Crop a bit off the top and bottom and use it for social media!

Have fun but do be careful, and don't force parts together. The thread diameter is the same as an M42 lens thread but the thread pitch is different.

T-mount adapter. Also used for some spotting scope adapters, some extension tubes, and lens mount adapters (such as Spiratone, Bushnell, and Lentar brands)

K5 Extended ISO

I have been using a K-5 for years. I haven't found any drawbacks to extended iso range. I personally find the images useable up to iso 5000 so go ahead and try it. Most likely you will never turn off extended iso. I use iso 80 more frequently than the highest values but the top iso settings are useful for adjusting composition when doing night time photography.
