DNG Thumbnails in windows 10 folders

Have noticed for a while now that in Windows 10 I have problems viewing thumbnails of my RAW (DNG) files from my K-5, but not my K-50 (see screen shot attached)

Can anyone suggest where can acquire the right codec to allow viewing of thumbnails as currently only option is to open file by file to find the image I am looking for

Thanks

Any succsessful K-50 latent defect claim?

In daylight i can see the issue
no matter what mode or selected aperture the lens is firing at highest aperture
if i meter for f32 then images are fine, anything wider and they are grossly underexposed
i know it is not the lens/es as all is well when fitted to my K5

Any succsessful K-50 latent defect claim?

This forum and the facebook pages for Pentax are full of peeps moaning about their K-50 developing a fault whereby images are underexposed (often challenged by experts)

Well my K-50 has been playing up for a while. So much so have not used it for a few weeks but with an ISS flyover due tonight I retrived it from its case to join my K5 in trying to capture it

Recently i had been able to 'wake it up' by firing off a few frames at High Speed Continuous, but no joy tonight

No matter what mode, apart from Bulb, images were dark - even in manual and then using same lens/settings on my K5 - it is clear the K-50

My warranty expired back in March, current shutter count is.1600, so wonder if anyone has claimed against latent defect warranty or had to pay up for thrs problem?

Thanks

AF: Which Decides.. Camera or Lens?

Been reading some reviews of, mainly 3rd party lenses, but see comments like "the lens decided to focus on the person further away"

Surely it is the function of the camera to decide what point to focus on?

Or am I misunderstanding how AF DSLRs operate?

Histograms, learning resource?

Am relatively new to digital cameras and apart from functions like Crop and Tilt have not used, yet, any decent PP software (apart from a few failed attempts with DSS for my night sky pics)

Thing is though i note the camera provides histogram data but have no idea what it is and therefore how to interpret it to improve my pic's

Can tge oanel recommend any good resource to gain an initial understanding as a lot of what i have seen is too technical for an old dog like me

TIA

Battery charge time

Whilst the manual for my K50 states expected recharge time for the battery, cannot find same info in the K5 manual

Appreciate times can change for old batteries but wondered typically how long peeps find it takes for the light on the charger to change?

Have spent the day really running them down and put first one on a couple of hours ago so keen to compare times

TIA

Well it finally arrived today.
Auction ended last Wednesday. Ebay posting stated 1st Class post
The seller finally despatched it Friday by Parcelforce 48
So it arrived 6 days since the auction ended :(

Well it seems in good working order.
Will need a firmware update (currently 1.03) and hopefully the batteries (got a 2nd with the D-BG4) continue to hold a good charge

Ages now until the weekend to give it a full test lol

Been thinking for a while that I needed a 2ndbody to compliment my Stormtrooper K-50; especially for nights out when tryingto catch the stars (e.g. could use 1 for Trails and 1 for Stacking) orwhen photographing my local football (soccer) team (to save lens changes)

Did umm and ah about waiting for FF but notingthe comments/concerns about the 1st Gen bodies I went and had a look on fleabay andjust won an auction for a K-5 (2011 purchase, 2949 shutter count) for £211($320) which seems a bargain (if genuine) seeing as have seen 'new' on sale for over£600 ($900) ... roll on the weekend when it is due to arrive!

From a comparison of the specs I should haveissues deciding which body I choose on the occasions I only need 1 camera withme

Is this AWB in action?

Having caught a couple of snaps of the ISS passing over I tried to again capture the stars in my light polluted environment

Both the following pics were taken within seconds of each other, same settings (ISO800, f2, 15sec using SMC 50mm f1.4) The only difference between the 2 pics is that I moved the tripod head slightly more vertical which brought more of the tree into shot. But as a result the sky has gone from Black to a deep Blue - even though the shift on the tripod was minor!

What has caused the difference in colour? The AWB settings?

TIA

Keep seeing bats fly over at dusk so thought I'd try and catch a snap of one.
Set the camera up on the tripod, manual focus & exposure, 3sec intervals, then set the flash to go off
Amongst 300 pics found these 2 (cut'n'paste) in MS Paint

Great pic Top Banana
I too tried snapping the moon last night but just could not get the right focus; maybe the light high cloud about spoiled it (?)
Got these with my 300mm SMC DA f4 and then with the Pentax HD x1.4 TC to make it 420. Then found the multi exposure setting on my K-50 and got the 3rd using the 300mm alone with exposures of 1/160 f5 ISO 200

Bought the WR soon after buying my K-50 kit back in the Spring and love it in daytime, but felt it lacking for astrophotography.

Recently a SMC D* 300mm f4 and a Pentax HD x1.4 converter came up for auction on eBay from the same seller and i was lucky enough to win them both for £650 (approx $1,000). Did contemplate listing my 55-300 Wr on ebay but felt that for the amount i'd get i'd be better off keeping it

Rokinon/Samyang 14mm or 16mm?

Finally getting what have been hoping for in terms of night sky pics since acquiring this lens (oh and a 340mile round trip to the Welsh hills for a dark sky)..

Set my camera up on a tripod and let it snap away at intervals. Got loads of shots, mostly just stars but a few planes and a couple of satellites..

but also got a few meteorites in frame; this being one of the best...

I have just taken delivey of the Samyang 14mm and have seen comnenrs abour calibrating it with my K50 for EXIF (though understand 15mm is closest i can select)

However where do you do this?

I have scanned the manual and gone through menu settings on the camera but nothing stands out. Took a pic and looked at detailed info on the screen and it said 35mm
