FA 20-35 unobtanium ....Not sure what to expect from Promaster 19-35 alternative lens

The lens is a Cosina (ALSO branded as a Promaster or Vivitar) 19-35mm 3.5-4.5 all plastic with a nice chrome lens mount , bayonet lens hood also was included, this lens and the 100mm 3.5 macro (also branded as Pentax) made Cosina's reputation as a lens maker, The Tokina 19-35mm f3.5-4.5 was their own, and was an update on the 20-35mm 3.5-4.5, a 20-35mm 2.8 was also available as a higher cost option, but most test showed it had inferior corner resolution to the cheaper option, both lens are a good bet for the price, I have no idea about the quality of the Promaster version.

Lens repair for M28/2.8

Look at the pictures of the disassembly, in the 8th picture and again further on you will see a small spring, this spring runs the length of the lens and is attached to pivot that has the shutdown cam (lever) attached to it, the reason your lens is slow to close down, is because this spring has become weak over time and use, obtain a new spring from Pentax or with a pair of sharp cutters, clip if the old upright attachment ring on the end of the spring and bend up a new ring from the coils of the spring, this in effect shortens the spring and will recover is action, when the lens is reassembled, test by holding down the closing/shutdown cam (lever) and release it, the action should be so quick as not to been seen.

Maybe 01-010 as like Olympus many years ago 1/2/3/4 top end cameras and double digit second line 10/20/30/40 so maybe 01 as in k1 type
and 010 as first of the line and 020 maybe later, just a thought.

Depends on how much depth of field I want and size of head in the final pic, DFA 77mm Ltd, 90mm Tamron Macro, 100mm Pentax DFA Macro WR, Sigma 105 2.8 Macro and my favourite Pentax FA135 2.8 (if), all these are good, if you definitely taking a portrait use a nice sharp prime lens.

CP+ 2018 Pentax Interview

Lets look at what was said in the interview, and as important what was not said, the Pentax Exec stated that a replacement was underway for the k3 Line, From this I take the understanding to be that the k3 is over and what comes will not be a k3 iii and the word "line" has a whole new dynamic to the situation, if the "LINE" has ended then the replacement need not be APSC, the exec at no time stated that the replacement was APSC, also careful listening he said Full Frame Converter Lenses are underway, that's Plural as in more than one, the current converter is a Kenco/Hoya product (developed from the Teleplus range) maybe the push forward in full frame lenses includes full auto focus versions of the old converters of the past the A2X- and A1.4X- both available in short and long versions.

Pentax 28mm Shift vs Rokinon 24mm TS

The Pentax shift lens has no tilt ability, but is well made and durable, a filter holder is on the rear, and takes Gelatine filters, the front thread (on the tips of the petal shaped hood - fixed) is 77mm for use when not shifting, the reason some have come onto the market is the in built shift setting on the k1, this movement of the chip has the same effect as a shift lens and is easy to use, I considered purchasing the 24mm Rokinon, but the Samyang from which its is derived received very mixed reviews, and some testers stated it had only one usable f stop.

Pentax Normal 40.5mm Filter (for rear filter holder of DA 560mm and 645 DA 25mm)

I would go for the Hoya filter, 40.5 is an old Leica size and several makers still manufacture it, I looked some ten years ago for such a size in Pentax but nobody stocked them, I needed it for a 400-800 Zoom mirror lens, and the instructions for that stated a filter should be used at all times, I purchased my zoom second hand and the filter kit was missing, you might find one on ebay if your lucky.

The DA * 11-18 is the last APSC lens you will see from Pentax - Ricoh this replaces the 12-24, and keeps faith with the buyers of APSC bodies k10 to k3 mk2, this lens was designed with help from Tamron and is made in a reconditioned ex Ricoh printer plant in the Philippines, as for all other focal length requirements Ricohs answer will be purchase full frame and put up with the 1.5 shift, the SDM 12-24 16-50 50-135 60-250 were contract made by Hoya - Tokina they will disappear in the next year as stocks roll down, this ends Ricoh's association with Hoya, Ricoh will now make all future Pentax lens in conjunction with Tamron (they own a controlling share holding), the Pentax k2 will appear over the next 12 months and will be a k3 with a full frame chip, the 645G a full frame 45X60 camera will appear before the end of year, its not clear yet if the camera will feature sensor shake reduction or not, do not hold your breath waiting for a radical APSC body its not coming, the future is full frame in the mind of Ricoh.

Please help..! I got scammed, need to fix the lens...

You do not state where you are, this might help in this matter.
First of all the fungus you are looking at is caused by the last owner poring cleaning fluid (you should put the cleaner on a lint free cloth and then wipe the lens after carefully blowing of any dust or grit) on the open to air elements, this creeps around the element and collects on the reverse surface, soon small invisible mould starts to breed and the result is what you see, this did not occur in transit, your seller is pulling a fraud full stop.
The 35 f2 is a bit rare item so if you like the rest of the lens , Open a case in Ebay (is much better if you have paid by Paypal as they can charge back your payment up to 3 months after the transaction), In the U.K to clean out a simple m series lens with no electrics is straight forward and can be done for about 40 pounds, so negotiate a refund of about 45 pounds to cover your costs, or simple go for a total refund and get your money back, do not worry the seller stated no returns in the advert, Ebay will not let that stand for an item that is broken and not stated as such in the original advert.
As another option you could try a home fix as the front and rear element are easy to access on an M series lens.

You will miss may wonderful photographs waiting for a Silver K1 to come onto the second hand market. And I think the silver finish is exactly a match for the 31/43/77, this camera stands out as a major advance in DSLR tech, and I have no regrets in buying one as you pay only a small premium against the black model ( add up 1 x k1 + batt grip and 1 genuine battery )
Here is the proof.

There are five body caps available the first in the screw m42 mount cap, the second is the push fit black or clear cap, this usualy supplied with the body when new, the third is the early bayonet type with asahi pentax written on it, this latter had the asahi name was dropped these also had a circle at the 12 o/c position (mounting point indicator to line up with the red dot on the mount) and white or red paint inside the circle, to match m or a type lens cameras, a second version of this cap has no paint in the circle and the addition of a circular tube moulded on the inside in the mounting flange circle, the locking button of the mount locks into this and secures the cap on, and last of all the new K1 cap that locks on as well.

As man oncesaid “there are Lie’s, Damn Lie’s (Fake News) and Statistics” (67.84% ofStatistics are made up) whatever the truth, action will speak louder thanwords, as we have just seen with the end of 3d (yet again), when the powersthat be in "Canik Oly43 PenRicoh" land, make the decision, the end will be quickfor the losing product line (look how quick the K01 went out), as full frametakes over the DSLR market, I think KP is the new K3, and that’s as good as itwill get for APSC, and k2 will be a full frame version of k3, The mirrorlessmarket is stuck between compact DSLR’S (the Rock) and Camera Phone’s (a hardplace).

The lens was available under several name but outside the US market it was sold under Tokina and Kiron (Kino Precision Industries Limited), they made the 35 - 105 3.5/4.5 Olympus Zuiko
and later a 28 80 version, you can tell they all had a chrome button on a ring that you pressed to engage a close focus operation.

Pentax "KP" DSLR registered in Indonesia

I have included a couple of interesting pictures, the quick release grip looks very much like the bg10 grip from the Pentax mz-s, this had a moving lug and pin arrangement to grip on the body, I had a couple of these and the system worked well, a button had to be pressed before the sliding lever could be moved to release the grip. and if the information is correct the new KP might be like the conservative looking k1 that lost out to the mz-s and of course the both of those and the mz5n and mz3 shared the same internal body.

Irix 15mm f/2,4 for full frame K-mount

Just received my Irix 15mm Blackstone yesterday, purchased from the Irix site, order was fulfilled by Lens-Tip of Poland took four days to reach London, lens feels very well made, lock ring is a bit fiddle because its next to the focus ring, comes boxed, inside the box a tin, two rear caps and the hard case, I am awaiting a thin frame Hoys CPL. filter for the front, Instructions tell you to take care in case the filter touches the front element, I will use the standard technique to assess this, and then leave the filter in place, as this is the only 95mm fitting lens I have,
So designed by two Germans (ex Leica ??) for a Swiss company (TH Ltd) made in Korea (Samyang ??) and distribution by Lens -Tip from Poland in europe (the Samyang theory may come from the fact Lens-Tip is the distributor for Samyang - big on Ebay) total globalization, !!!!, I will take some pics with the lens on my K1 and post when I have the time, My plan of use is to hyperfocaly set the lens to about f9.6 (shows in the viewfinder of the K1) and just point and shoot.

I would go for the FA 24-90mm f3.5 - 4.5 AL (IF) from the MZ-S days or the compact FA 28-105mm f3.2-4.8 al (IF) both excellent lens, and the FA 28-105MM 4-5.6 (IF) a converted Tamron lens is a contender, the old F 24 - 50MM F4 is nice and you get a constant aperture, if you tend towards the wide angle end, if you have time and can get one the Tokina 28-70mm F2.8 SV is super and a little smaller than the 24-70mm 2.8 Sigma.

DA lens aperture on MZ-S

Er excuse me you just gave 3 of the best reasons to own one camera over another 1 Size 2 Weight 3 No weardo battery required, One thing you can allways get is an AA battery, plus a packet of English cigaretts or a can of Coke, I know this having purchased some in the valley of the Kings in Egypt and half way up mount Cook in New Zealand, that mz battery grip fg saved the day on several occation's, and made the camera a joy to use, I had the phoney do nothing FDP grip on the Z1P not the same at all.
Also having owned both cameras and not just read the spec sheet, the MZ-6 did have more focusing points and also it was about twice as fast using them, it locked on more often and in much lower light, the donkey slow Z1P focusing is the major reason its a rare camera to find.

The Pentax film era camera you want for 35mm full frame and robust build quality that directs all no apature ring lens from the body, (and also lets you set the apature from the ring if the lens has one) is the MZ-6 (or MZ-L if you are in north America), its a fully specified camera and the same size as your MZ-S.

I am not worried about the lack of aperture ring, Its the lack of front filter mount, The competitors Irix, Zeiss, Sigma, all have front mount filters, and Irix have a filter hatch in the lens hood, A super wide that you cannot use a CPL POLA filter on is not worth owning.
