Advice requested regarding K-1

Since you are pretty happy with the camera itself, why not to replace the soft lenses with sharp ones? Pentax makes a lot of good APS-C glass, and it's not expensive, especially if you buy used. You'll benefit from their compact size, which matches the compact K5Ii body, more convenient zoom ranges, and possibly full weather proof setup. If I had the same choice, I'd take 16-50/2.8 + 50-135/2.8 + couple DA Limiteds. All together they would cost about as much as bare K-1 body.
Please keep in mind that K-1 is bigger and heavier than K-5, and might require extra investments, like memory cards/computer upgrade/newer software.
I have both cameras (K-1 and K-5II), and still cannot let K-5 go. I really enjoy its compact size, and take it when travelling overseas.

None of them is fully satisfactory at K-1. There is a real need for a new 50mm lens.

I talked to Optics Planet this morning regarding the order I made. They told the camera is on back order, so I asked them to cancel my order. They agreed. Hope it's end of the story.

Dear Pentax,

I'd love to see IBIS on par with new Olympus E-M1 MkII, or better. It can take sharp pictures with exposures of few seconds long. Actually, I saw sharp enough shots taken with 15 seconds(!) exposure handheld. Such stabilization gives a lot of new opportunities. Being able to shoot long exposures - waterfalls and running water, light rails, reflections in lakes, blurred motion, etc. any time you have your camera with you is really cool. Hiking to a remote waterfall and not carrying around a heavy tripos would let one go way further.
Olympus states performance of their IBIS is limited by effects of Earth rotation on gyroscopes. But you can do better! Pentax cameras already have all necessary sensors - GPS, levels, compass - to cancel effects of Earth rotation on gyroscopes.

Thank you! Maybe I just was lucky: it was of those seldom days (or nights) when I could spend an hour or two with my camera. Wish I could do it more often...

I like how these small plants look climbing the trunk of a tree. Got the picture in local botanic garden.

Yes, you are absolutely correct! It's an old lens back from soviet days. When I got it 20 years ago, it was already a used one. It's well made and in good mechanical shape, but still difficult with work with because of huge focal length and lack of resolution. Focusing is challenging: when you barely touch the lens, this tiny shake is enough to make the live view image fly back and forth across the camera screen. Keeping it still during the shot to get more or less sharp pictures is extremely difficult, too.

Tried my very old lens on Pentax K5II. It's a reflex lens with fixed aperture F/11 and focal length 1000mm.

Zenit-E. My dad bought it for himself, but never managed to find time for photography. Few years later, when I was in 6th grade, he gave it into my hands.

Wondering how sharp is D-FA* 70-200 at 2.8? I expect to shoot mostly in dim conditions thus often with aperture wide open. Could somebody publish a full-size sample or 1:1 crop from the lens?
