When you get your K-3, how will you dispose of your older body

Yeah same here still using K-7 and have a K200D. For my usage right now K-7 is fine but still would like better low light performance. Wait and see how the K-3 fairs for end user feedback :)

It ain't all bad the K5 IIs in Australia can be had for AUD$1,197 so pretty close to bhphoto's reduced prices US$1,049. Guess we will never see the old cheaper Pentax prices when i got most of my lenses (thank god).

I see, don't let that server admin company put you off r1soft cdp though - definitely something you'd want to look into for the future - very fine control over your backup interval/rollbacks which don't add load to your servers.

woah very lucky still it was only 24hrs of data loss and not more

Does e-vault backup your mysql databases ? As something like r1soft cdp enterprise also has mysql database plugin to backup mysql data at data block level so you can roll back your databases to any backup point you set - default is like backup point every 60 minutes but you can set it to every 1 min to 15 min so you'd only loose like 1 hrs worth of data on default settings. Has saved some of my clients countless head aches for web site file and database rollbacks :)

Woah that server technician must of had a minor heart attack :)

Luckily it wasn't

rm -ef *

for that definitely need to setup a NTFS share for css, attachments, photo gallery (any user end initiated upload, update, removable files) so load balanced web servers can access the data.

For backup/restorations might want to look into R1Soft CDP Linux Server Backup Software - Enterprise Edition from R1Soft - Disk to Disk Backup :)

not bad a price.. shame my first attempt at purchasing from for shipping to Australia resulted in my credit card being declined even when their web site said Amex is accepted for Australia destinations!

Well for me i can understand, I went with pentax due to price relative to other brands. But last year or so len prices have jumped across pentax range and the new models aren't as price competitive as before.

Luckily, I bought most of my lenses prior to price hikes. That said i'm still very happy to stay on K-7 for now :)

SD card chopped by the K-7 :-) & advice for a new one

Never my k-7, k200 causing problems but had a few card readers eat up bits of my cheaper plastic casing A-DATA SDHC cards. Usually the thin bits cover the gold contacts. My Lexar and Sandisk Extreme II/III ones are fine though.
