Not quite as bad as some of the competitors. Nevertheless not sustainable in the long run.

On the other hand their recent track record - the last couple of years - is pretty indisputable, isnt it?

It is exactly this kind of back-up and marketing support the brand would need for the worldwide market It wouldnt take much to make different language versions of this.

Review of Peak Design Everyday Backpack V2 and Backpack Zip!

Very good review indeed, thanks!
My Everyday Backpack V1 has served me well for a couple of years. I like the way Peak Design designs their backpacks, full of innovative details. It seems that the hip strap has been improved, but now needs to be purchased as a separate accessory. Otherwise V2 seems to be an incremental evolution instead of a major redesign.

Yes, that is a good price! More or less what the grips used to cost for the earlier flagship models.
It is a pity I already have one...

Optically they are both good. The big question is your shooting style, and whether the speed of the Sigma justifies it’s weight and size. For wildlife and sports it probably does. This is the reason I have one. For landscapes and static objects the situation may be different.

Lenses and temperature and the 70-210

After using my gear frequently outside the specified temperature range I have learnt not to take the specified temperature range too literally. In my case we are usually talking about the low end, as up here we never have temperatures above 40 C. Only occasionally in the tropic my gear has been exposed to this high temperatures.
The manufactures want to limit their liabilities by playing safe with the specifications. Excluding batteries temperatures have never caused difficulties for me. However, I know the lubricants in some earlier Sigma lenses needed to be changed for use in cold weather.
Humidity is a bit different. Condensation has been discussed here several times. In tropical conditions fungus can be a problem. Would be interesting to know whether modern sealed lenses have a better track record in this respect.

What is the state of Pentax MF??

The same question has crossed my mind. However, in November Philippe Farreng , Ricoh Imaging Sales Manager for Europe, clearly confirmed the companys commitment to all three product lines, APS-C, FF and MF. Therefore it would appear logical to expect a new 645 after the K-new.

LUXHelsinki is an annual light festival arranged around the darkest time of the year.
Some of the landmarks of Helsinki get a rather bizarre new look for a couple of days...

The low light capabilities and DR of the K-1 come in handy!

New information about new flagship's selling date

Depth of field is defined optically by the aperture.
In theory the additional bits could give you more shades, colours, possibly even dynamic range. It is just that even 14 bits is more than current sensors can resolve in real life. And way more than any display or printer can show. The downside is that file sizes continue to grow. Why go this way if the additional bits do not buy you anything?
This is why I started to wonder.

In case you need to have the mount replaced, it is not terribly expensive. Had to do that with my DFA 24-70.

Hmm... What is the point in going from 14 to 16 bits? Even with 14 the last bit is likely to be rather meaningless.

On trips like this I always have two bodies. Buying a second hand one makes sense, after the trip you can sell it without loosing too much money.

These things come in waves. In the long run diversity tends to increase, and I think there will be demand for topic-based forums.
Definitely hope so :-)
