Do any of the KP or K1 owners ever shoot video with it as well? If so what are your thoughts.

I went this morning to put all my stuff on KEH to sell and jump systems. I got all the way to the submit page and I couldn't do it.

It felt like I was going to sell off a family member. I didn't realize the emotional attachment that I had to this K200. It's literally been around the world with me. And if I'm keeping that then I should keep the lenses and so on.

I was looking at Canon's which would make the most sense for me ( EF is on every cinema camera that I have to use for work. ) and playing with some of the 5D's we have at the office and I'm just not excited about them. The EOS line seems like a bit of a train wreck. A Fuji's ergonomics look like it would drive me nuts, and Sony colors don't really do it for me. But just taking the K200 out of my bag made me feel good. Solid & comfortable and I've taken great shots with it.

Maybe Papa_Joe's right to look at a K3 or maybe I'll rent a K1 and see if I get some sort of spark while shooting with that. KP is nice I worry slightly about ergo though on that ( if any one knows a Pentax retailer in LA please let me know. Went to Sammys and they had a Pentax sign but ZERO cameras ) This brands got it hooks in me deep I really hope they come through. Just wish they'd give a few more hints on where they are going.

I’m a video person by trade. So thats a bit of a sore spot for me. I use a lot of Canon and Blackmagic for work and I just like the idea of having one camera on me in my travels that does both well. ( XT3 - A7III - 5D )

I have a lot of old glass so I’m not invested in FF or APS I can go either way. But when I got in the game with Pentax, most camera’s were all kinda the same. But pentax had IBS and weather sealing and what I liked more in a photo and feel of a camera. But now there are so many flavors and things that hit a few more of my wish list boxes.

I think i was just really hoping for CP+ to be the day when they pulled back the sheet and my new camera was underneath. But now there’s rumors of 2020 for the next “Pentax” camera and thats just a bit of a bummer.

I have a k200d & Kx. I used to have a K5 but that was stolen. A silly amount of af360s and lenses for days. I was going to get a K3 when the K5 disappeared on me. But I kept saying I’ll wait till the next one. And have been just using my K200 as my daily driver.

I've been patiently waiting for a new Pentax camera. I've been interested in the KP but really was hoping for the K3 replacement. I am not sure a K1 is a great fit for me. I obsessively searched for news around CP+ but now that it seems there is nothing coming for a K3 I find myself at a cross roads of do I continue to invest in the Pentax lineup? Should I jump ship and try out the mirrorless that all the "cool" kids seem to be into?

I'm sure this is a case of "grass looks greener" but I find my self looking over the fence more than I'd like to.

Have you had this? Do you ever think this way? Well now what?

Lens Adaptors - Pentax K to EF cine

I've been looking and am having a hard time finding the answer. Figured maybe you guys might know.

I have a healthy collection of Pentax Lenses and I love each and everyone of them. I'm looking to adapt those lenses to a cinema camera which has an EF mount. now 90% of my collection F - FA - K has aperture rings so no big deal to do. But I do have some goodies that don't possess a ring and am looking at investing in the new HD-FA lenses for zooms. and I'd rather not buy canon zooms just for 1 camera. Now going PK to MFT they have adaptors with aperture control. Even PK to Nikon I've found it with aperture control. But has anyone ever seen a PK to EF adaptor with aperture control??

I know auto focus and things don't work and totally fine with that as for cine stuff I don't want auto anything. But I'm trying to get them not to be stopped down and the HD-FA 15-30 looks so nice I'd love to use it for video also.

Always need weather sealed. I’ve taken it all over the world and I never want to worry about my gear. It’s funny that I use cinema camera’s that are hundreds of thousands of dollars and they get take down by a little bit of mist but my K200D from 2008 has survived though the most extreme conditions. I wish Pentax would step up their video game really wish they’d dabble into cinema because it would be the only camera I would never worry about.

Would you upgrade from the K20d to the K5?

Id ride it out a little longer. There seems to be a new k3 ( whatever they will call it ) in Q1 2019. That will either A. be the camera you really want or B. Drive the cost of a K3 down. K20 is a great camera and if youre still rocking yours you obv keep them for a while. Dont jump the gun too soon then have buyers remorse.
