how dangerous is the K 1 and K 1 II

K1ii is addictive. I fell in love after playing around with it for 5 minutes in the store. It took me a year to put pennies aside for dream to come true.

Yes ! it IS dangerous.

Once you use it for a few hours, resistance is futile....... you will get one !

The 300mm f4 works fine for wildlife but I prefer to use it with the K3ii.

My 100mm macro work wonders on the K1ii......

LI90 Battery Recharing Question

I did some digging but I cannot find an answer to this.

I am wondering if it is harmful to leave the battery in the charger when it is fully charged ?

I have 2 batteries and sometimes, I forget to check if the one in the charger is fully charged and it may be a few days before I check.

Poll: Why did you go full frame?

When I started photography in 1968, the ONLY lens I had was a Minolta 50mm 1.4 ( with the SRT-101). When I went to Pentax, with the K10 apsc, I rapidly found out that 50mm on apsc is just not the same as on FF. So I started filling my piggy bank and finally got my K1ii. I still use my K3ii with my 300mm F4 but mostly for birding and wildlife. I did not get the new DFA 50mm 1.4. I am a bit intimidated by the size and weight of that beast. I still use the FA 50mm 1.4 and it, well, sorta "satisfies" me.

The feeling when holding the K1ii, which is a bit taller than the K3, gives me the "grip" I feel good with without needing the battery grip like on the apsc models.

When I look through the viewfinder with my 50mm, I just get that 1968 feeling when I held an SLR for the first time. (sweet memories :) )

AE Metering button on K1ii

Hi everyone,

Question using the K1ii.

When looking at the AE Metering icon in live view, it shows 3 different "images" in the icon, The multi-segment shows all green,

However in the viewfinder, it only shows 2 "images" or no image.

IE: press the AE Metering button and change the setting via the rear e-dial and it will show 2 different icons then none

This leads me to believe that when nothing is showing, it is using the multi-segment ( when I go in live-view, it does show multi-segment in green)

Is this normal ? The manual does not say anything about this.

I was just trying to change the metering mode and was looking for the icon and could not find it till I looked in the manual.... then after using the e-dial, I could see it changing.

I fully agree: when I first took that K10 in my hands so many years ago, it was love at first sight (well...grip) . And the menus are so much easier to access rapidly..... Buttons are so well layed out and easily accessed.

BTW: does anybody know why some bags of rice contain 5763 grains and others contain 5796 grains.... I am not finished counting the 3rd bag yet.... will let you know later.

With all the modern photo technology we have, why is it not possible (yet) to get a photo of the virus ? All we get are hand-drawn images or a fussy red blob with spikes on it that look like WW2 water mine.

I know that there exists ways to take pictures through a microscope with certain attachments but are those viruses so small ? I tried to find out something about the SIZE of that virus and all I can get are world statistics and stuff like that.

Anyways...… just curious.... happens when you are in the 70s and are locked in for over a week :(

What’s stopped me from getting a K1

I have a K5ii and K3ii. K3ii is mostly used exclusively for birding and wildlife.

I have a battery grip for each one mostly because I like the "grip" feeling: my pinky was always looking for a place to lean on.

I got a K1ii last fall and it came with a free battery grip but I do not use it: it is just too big with the K1.
The extra few millimeters in height that the K1ii has gives me that comfortable grip: feels super good.

I live in the Montreal area. If you want to try it out for a few hours, send me a private message and we can get together.

Be warned that you WILL get the K1 fever and you will feel feverish until you get your own :)
