That is too bad. I *thought* You can find a K5 charger for cheap and using one day shipping from Amazon.in can get it delivered like tomorrow. But alas Amazon listings show a lead time of 3 weeks. Now only if a kind PFer from Bangalore area can help you! Good luck.

K-1 vs K-3

Thanks. It confirms my understanding.i.e In good light, K3 does extremely well up until ISO 6400. Only when the light levels drop ( e.g in a dimly lit bar) would the K1 pull out ahead decisively compared to K3 from ISO 1600 and above. Pixel shift is another story though. K1 punches way above its weight with PS.

Thanks but ISO 100 most modern APSC DLSRs would do well. ISO 3200 and above @ -2 EV, F2.8 (Wide Open) and then we can talk. Up until that point other than DOF (difference vs APSC) and body builder weight what is there to an FF camera? :D

Excellent report JPT. The fact that Ricoh rep is comparing ISO between k5iis and K1 shows even Ricoh thinks K3 output was fairly noisy compared to K5iis.
Also is it confirmed that K1 uses D810 sensor or simply a Ricoh rep speculation?

The 'system' is never complete. I will part with my beloved K3 once they put a FF sensor in a K3 or smaller, lighter body. Until then no.

I second that. Norm was one of the loudest voices contemptous of the entire Full Frame bandwagon. What happened? Change of heart?

Bipin Sir, I purchased all my gear in North America. I guess 2 Pentax camera bodies, 5 lenses when converted to INR is indeed a few lacs.
Good luck with sale of your K5! You took some nice pictures with it.

TimidTim is correct. K3 does have the in built flash. They got rid of it in K3II. For the record I NEVER recommended a Nikon to you. I only regretted the lack of presence of Pentax brand in India. I spent my hard earned money purchasing Pentax gear worth Lacs of rupees and love my gear.
As Bipin sir mentioned, Pentax K5 is a wonderful DSLR but I would say save some money and get a K3. It has all the Autofocus, metering and host of other issues resolved. With no prioir background in Photography I stumbled upon this forum and purchased a used K10D in 2008.
Havent looked back ever since. This forum and Pentax gear, both are my favorites.

How do you know its IMX094? IR or DPR mentioned its a different sensor manufacturer, though I find it hard to believe that.

Albert thanks for the comparison but it is not appropriate. You should have shot a side by side with Nikon D750 to be fair. That's what it is aimed at.
Also the location seems Ricoh headquarters in Tokyo :)

Namaste TimidTim! You are not timid at all. Rather brave for venturing to be a pentaxian. I am yet to see any pentax camera in any part of India for sale. Some in the Fort/Lamington area in Mumbai, some in Bangalore but again nothing compared to Nikon in INdia. You could also purchase a second hand camera from the ones in the For Sale section. Good luck!

This is good but I still prefer the Da 50 mm 1.8. Much smoother bokeh and pleasing image quality for not much sacrfice in wide angle. I returned my copy of 35mm!

Anti-Shake effectiveness?

It depends on various factors. With steady breath, steady subject, hands angled, resting against my body for focal lengths less anywhere under 300mm I can go down to 1/13s. At 1/30s I can almost certainly relax some of the above constraints and still get sharp results. I have heard Sony A7 series and Olympus has even better Image Stabilization!

D500 vs K-3 size comparison

Was about to say that! D500 is 4% bigger in size than even D750. Pentax K3 is smaller/lighter than D750 in every aspect. Why is D500 that big? Screw drive motor? Weather sealing? Pentax today makes probably the smallest and most feature packed DSLRs on the market today!

Thats right. Until the price of 18-135 doesnt come down to realistic levels, I wouldnt call say 'sanity has returned at Ricoh' in terms of pricing their products in todays ever shrinking market.

If they are claiming it is corroded they better give you proof in pictures. Usually that is a precursor to denying a legitimate warranty claim. Don't let that happen. Good luck.

You well face this problem with all modern lighting that had not been designed for still camera action. The lights flickering is not noticeable for shutter speeds less than 1/180s or so.
There are few threads here on PF on how to deal with this situation.
