Pentax K 50mm Original Hard Cases? Do they exist?

No, that looks like smooth leather to me. It seems that is an "all around" case from the 80's.

Actually I have a picture of what I'm looking for.

Oh yeah, I see it, but that's not the case

The ones we were talking about have "SMC Pentax 1.x/50" engraved on top, and their finish should be grainier.

Thanks Phil, helpful as always. So "Asahi Pentax" was only used until 1979? Interesting...

Here's a pic. Yeah, I suppose it's for a 35mm. I'm trying to determine the year these were made, and for which camera serie (K, M, A).

I can't find information of this travel case in my brochures. The owner tells me that it is probably from the late 70's/early 80's. Apparently has "KOWA" locks. Is it genuine, or rebadged? I'd be thankful if anyone have some info on this.

If you're looking for something that have the lastest software updates and it's easy to install, I recommend trying Antergos or Manjaro flavors.

Also, try the different graphical user interfaces (GUI's, like GNOME, Xfce, Cinnamon).

Concerning the Windows programs, If you don't find satisfying alternatives (you could search here Linux Software - AlternativeTo.net), I'd recommend applying a dual-boot with Windows.

Regarding the code, I guess it shoudn't be too difficult as it should only requiere to replace some values from a similar option. I'm only guessing though.

This could be solved making the addition selectable only when Using Aperture Ring (custom function C26 on K-3 II) is activated.

Indeed, I think with a correct PP video should be decent-looking.

Here's an example

You Tube

However, even the image quality of this edited video is miles away from, lets say, a sony a6300, in resolution, bitrate, and dynamic range.

Oh, there are always situations. In my case, when photographing a live act frecuently changing ISO and shutter speed is required because of light changes/long exposure effects. Of course, I could only adjust aperture or SS, but aesthetically it would bring consecuences.

This makes sense.

Like this?

I don't know if I made myself clear: I meant that having to press the ISO button to change either the shutter speed or the ISO is dumb when having 2 dials, so each one can be assigned to each function.

I think Tav is not possible with lens that does not have the "A" function.

I think this one is easy to fix.

When using K and M series lenses with my K-3 II in manual mode, it is not possible to use both dual wheels simultaneously to manage iso and shutter speed (as the aperture must be manually selected). The user has to alternate between them with the ISO button, making the handling more clumsy.

Adding a function in the E-Dial Programming menu that allows using both dials at the same time in manual mode would be deeply appreciated.

That's a pretty detailed answer.

And may I add a simpler approach to good video: if Pentax continues to use Sony components, couldn't it take advantage of the new 4k-optimized-no-pixel-binning sensors of the A7r II and the a6300 on the next generation of cameras?

I'm not sure if anyone in this thread is even asking for "Professional Grade" HDMI output, though that would be an interesting feature that is already present in some other cameras. Even consumer oriented codecs, like the h.264 on the a6300 XAVC-S format, could offer enough quality to 99% of users when well implemented. Sony, for example, offers 14-stops of video dynamic range on that camera; that is, with a good bitrate and a log color profile.

The GH- and Alpha series have certainly affected Canikon sales, I'm worried on how this may affect Pentax.

Thanks! Checking that thread is going to take me a while though :)

By the way, I posted a question in your Pentax K series lens hoods post. Do you know something about it?

Wondering if you could help me with this.

I'm looking for a Pentax hard case for the 50mm 1.4.

I've been searching for one to buy on the web, but all I have found are the generic ones, with only "Pentax" engraved on the top. I'm looking for the ones that have "SMC Pentax 1.4/50". Haven't found anything on the 50 1.8 or the 50 1.2 also.

Both the 1975 lens brochure or the October 1976 price list indicate they were sold

Could anyone post pictures of them so I can know they are real? Maybe someone is interested in selling me one
