Hey, thanks for the kind words!

Welcome, inmediasres!

I do love the Theta, although it is a very particular sort of machine. It will take a picture of literally everything around you, so what other camera could you possibly need, right? :-)

Tricks for the Theta are similar to fish eye techniques, think of it as two back-to-back fish eye images that get stitched together. Even though the image can be manipulated and re-oriented, the originating point of view is still a huge consideration, and direct light creates challenges for the camera to cohesively stitch the scene.

Here's the Flickr album, and the Theta-hosted versions are in my signature link (the animation is much smoother on Theta's site).

I'm sorry that my participation fizzled out mid-month, but I had a nice time with the Sears 55/1.4. I've used it a lot, just never officially as a "Single", so that's an accomplishment! The handling and rendering are lovely, although since it is an old screw mount, I did miss the auto-aperture feature of more modern lenses, and it's quite a bit bigger than some of my classic little 50s. The bokeh machine made finding fun shots easy, which is a nice relief for a dark season. Some of my faves.

It was nice spending the last few months of 2021 working on getting back in the photo habit and I hope I can keep it going through 2022 for a real, complete Project 365. :-) Happy New Year, friends!

Hear, hear! I love you all dearly in this community.

That being said, I've revised my photography plan for January and I'm going to commit myself to my little Sony WX350 point-and-shoot, since I think it will travel and perform best for my Vegas vacation. So, I'll plan on participating in the Daily in Challenge for January, and a real-deal Project 365 for 2022! I've done it before, I'm ready to try again.

Thanks for everything, friends!

Basically, yes. I don't know how you all have the stamina! I have been shooting every day, remarkably, and I just edited and uploaded my photos to current on Flickr, but I don't think I can play catch up with commenting. At this point I'm just doing it for myself, which is valid and valuable. :-) The holidays, work, family, pets, housekeeping... I have to set aside time to just sit down and breathe!

I'm going to keep checking in here on the conversation thread, but I can't commit to participation. <3

Sandy, did my holiday card arrive yet?? :-D

Sorry guys, this weekend I've been focused on getting the shots and crafting the family holiday card. We've got a lot of pets, so it's challenging. Of course, for ease, I used the month's lens, so you guys get to preview the final product as soon as I can make it to Flickr.

If you want to get one in the mail, DM me your address. :-)

Awesome work, everyone. I am DONE with November. The monochrome was not as big an issue as I thought it might be, but the Access 35-70/2.5-3.5 is just a blob. Heavy, wobbly, hard to focus, not terribly sharp anyway, and the "macro" function isn't anything to write home about. Add in some home improvement projects and the Thanksgiving holiday and I just couldn't find the energy to love it. Plus, I'm kind of an obsessive hoarder of information and manual zooms make me a little crazy because the focal length changes without telling the camera. This baby is going to find a seat on the shelf and sit there.

I liked these, anyway:

I'm in! With a friendlier lens than MoNovember.

BOKEH-cember will be the (m42) Sears 55/1.4. It's going to be such a delightful change. :-)

Sorry I've been AWOL, but I really enjoyed catching up with the posts here! You guys are sweeties and I love it here. <3

I do have shots for every day, but I need to get them into Lightroom and do some processing, posting, and commenting. I'm a little intimidated! I'll work backwards from most recent and see where I run out of steam. :-)

MoNovember is still enchanting, but I gotta face facts and say this lens is a dud. LOL I'll save my full review for the end of the month. Regardless of the shade I'll throw, I'm still gonna keep the lens. In the past I've only ever regretted selling gear, so I long ago resolved to just never sell anything again. I've got a big house, I can afford to keep it all. :-)

First SIC was March 2014 (the street-by-street tour of Sedalia, MO with the M135/3.5).

SECOND SIC was April 2014, all monochromes with the MX-1. That was a nice one...

The MX-1 is going to come due again soon, I can tell!

I wasn't sure when I was going to make it back here to you guys and this game, but I got the push at just the right time and I'm really happy about it! After a month (and another month and another...), I hope I can build back the habit again. I've taken a long break!

The M28/2.8 is a great example of the M series. It's sharp and the handling is reliable. Colors reproduction is rich and coatings are performance quality. I stuck with the lens all month, but it quickly felt too "wide" for what I was seeing, so it was probably a little challenging for my re-entry into daily shooting, but I was able to stick with it and just get the best shot I could make, even if it wasn't my vision. I think getting back into daily shooting and the SIC practice, and using different focal lengths, will help train me to adapt instead of just feeling disappointed in the gear.

First because I had to cut an enormous flange off the back when I got it because it didn't fit on my camera (in addition to removing the Ricoh pin), and also because it has a "macro" setting, which, for all intents and purposes, is the ability to engage a built-in macro tube for 1:2.7 reproduction. It makes great colors, though, which will make MoNovember challenging...

I'm down. Not sure I can commit to MoNovember, but it's in my head. The K-1 will be wearing a weird old third-party lens, the Access 35-70mm f/2.5-3.5.

My very first Single In challenge I drove around the small city that I lived in at the time and took pictures on the numbered streets (16th Street on the 16th day of the month, etc.) it was a really cool series in the end, but I did literally have someone call in my license plate number. Thankfully I work in the legal field and the person who received the report recognized my name and knew I worked for a local attorney who assured them I was an innocent photographer. After that I actually made it in the newspaper for my daily photo habit. So, it all worked out in that small town, but I don't think I'll be recreating the project in the Kansas City metropolis. :-D

The M28/2.8 is a lens I've been affectionate with for a while. I love the rendering, it's sharp and I'm really comfortable using the M series. At this point I am feeling like the field of view is not suiting itself to situations as easily as other focal lengths and I have to admit to myself that my heart truly belongs to the M35/2.8. Maybe that's only because I know what's out there. I will need to revisit the FA* 24/2 I bought last year and failed to successfully Single. It is wider, but also faster, and with auto focus to give my astigmatism a rest. Next month I might break out one of my weird third-party zooms, for a little variety...

I'm happy to be back in the game with you all.
