Which peak design strap?

I'm 189cm or 6'2" tall and the 155cm Eddycam strap fully extended with the anchor links (total ~160cm) is just perfect for me.

According to this review the real length of PD Slide is 142cm which is short for my liking.
https://mirrorlesscomparison.com/accessories/peak-design-slide-vs-slide-lite-vs-leash/

I wear it cross body on my hip as well but I like to wear it bit lower it seems. I have used a 145cm strap before and it felt a bit restricting to me.

Eddycam has also 200cm straps for tall people.

Peak design straps are quite short so they are not for everyone. I use Eddycam strap (45mm version) with K3 and I have attached Peak Design anchor links to the strap. Works great.

K3 preview switch

There's no warranty anymore. I'm the 2nd owner of this camera. Bought it in 2016 in pristine condition, only 5000 frames taken at the time.
I have exposed this camera to heavy rain and low temperatures (Finnish winter) multiple times. I have even rinsed it under the tap water couple of times...

As an electronics engineer I would still expect my camera to withstand all that abuse.

Thank you for the feedback. This isn't that big of a problem, unless I would want to sell my Pentax gear some day. Which I have been considering.

Maybe I will check those posts about eDial repair some day and see if I can do something about it.
With some luck I won't be able to make this K3 operational again after I have opened it once. That would be a great excuse for some modern camera system.

I have taken only 49 500 frames with this Pentax. So much for the robust build quality.

K3 preview switch

I don't know if it is called preview switch or something but when you pull the ON/OFF switch to the right the camera stops down the lens. And when you release the switch a spring pulls it to the normal position.
Just noticed today that the switch does not return anymore to the normal position and there is no resistance when I pull the switch from normal position to the preview mode.
In multiple occasions when I was about to take photo the switch had radomly moved by itself to the stop down position, in which you can't take a photo.

I wonder how common issue this is. And if the camera can be easily opened so that I could see if there is something I can do about it.

Eyes wide open?

Few months ago I noticed that after looking a viewfinder with the left eye closed for a bit longer time, 45 secs or so, my left eye would have some focusing problems for the next 20 mins. After some googling I found that there are other people with similar issues and some of them had suggested to shoot with both eyes open. And it worked for me.

Another thing that some people mentioned in same threads was the dominant eye thing. So I decided to try shooting both eyes open but with the left eye in the view finder.
The findings were quite surprising. First of all, I can use both eyes just as well. There is no one eye that is clearly dominant. For the last couple of months I have been using both eyes in the view finder dependig on the situation. Another more interesting finding to me was that the left eye sees things brighter and in warmer colors than the right eye.

Just out of the curiousity I went to an eye doctor. With an old left eye injury as an excuse for my employer.
The doctor made a bunch of tests and said that the sight in both eyes is very good. (being a reason to even be able to notice the slight differences in the sight of both eyes)
But he also said that the reason for the focusing issue is that the eyes are different pair and because of that I would need glasses for nearsightedness in the next 3 or 5 years...
The far sight (or what ever it is called in English) would be good for the rest of the life. Interesting to see if those predictions hold true.

It's the admiral Nelson's ship HMS Victory. I visited it 10 years ago in Portsmouth. It's in a much better shape than Vasa. Almost ready to sail again.

As a coincidence I was just looking at old photos from that Portsmouth trip couple of hours ago.

I might wait until the K-new II to get that articulating screen. I'm quite happy with the K3.

When ever I'm lacking in inspiration with photography, I just pick my guitar and the inspiration is there.
As I don't have any personal style or direction yet, all I try is to keep the Inspiration alive, no matter what is the medium.

Your latest acquisition

The latest acquisition that I got maybe a month ago is the SMC Pentax-F 50mm F1.7. Bought it for 82 from ebay.
I'm already convinced that the Pentax-F series lenses could be some of the best kept secrets in the Pentax Land.
I've rarley seen anyone mention them.

This thing actually has a great center sharpness wide open. Unlike some other old lenses that I've tried and are reputed to be sharp.
It renders colors and tones well, and the way it does them seems to match well for my post processing work flow.
The bokeh is fine to me. Not as smooth as, say Helios 44 (stopped down) but it has some sort of a documentary photography vibe to me.

Small and a light lens, and it has the AF. The focusing ring is very narrow but works well, light and precise to use. (no quick shift)
The pictures can have certain kind of a clarity.
It obviously does have some chromatic aberration wide open but it is doable and not nearly as bad as, say with DA 50 F1.8.
In every sense the Pentax-F is in a way different league than the aforementioned.
To get an adequate sharpness from the aforementioned it needs to be stopped down at least to F2.8. And even then the overall rendering isn't nearly as aesthetic to me.
As a whole when it comes to the image quality, the current impression is that the lens that I have paid most so far (and a lens that I still adore), the D-FA 100mm F2.8 Macro WR, feels more lacking in some areas.

Sorry for the long post.

If I am taking the metering from the brightest point in the scene, I prefer to have that point bright instead of neutral grey.

K3 Av

I've been shooting with K3 for maybe 4 years and always used the manual mode. Multiple times I've been reading about TAv and other semi-auto modes but never really got a hang of them. After all it just seemed much easier to make the necessary adjustments in manual mode, after few test shots. But yesterday, I think I found found the proper way for me to use the Av mode:

1. Set the exposure compensation to somewhere around +1.7 and +2.0 depending on the brightness of the scene.
2. Select thet aperture that you need

3. Press AE-L button to the brightest point on the scene. The shutter speed suggested by the camera helps to find the brightest point.
4. Change the shutter speed by changing ISO

5. Focus and take the friggin shot.

I have taken dozens of test shots In and Outdoors today and +93% of the time I've got perfect exposures.
And even though there there are multiple steps, those steps can be made quite quickly.

I was born in Brisbane for Finnish parents and got a dual nationality. I've been living in europe most of my life and haven't got a chance to visit Australia again. Hopefully someday.
I do feel kind of proud to have Australian passport but yet I don't feel like I'm a real Aussie. Although there is some old newspaper clip calling me a real dinky die...

Camera is like a smart phone in a sense that it collects all the bacterias and viruses from your hands.
Using a view finder is like touching your face and eye with your hands all the time.

Do people here still use the view finder? My view finder has some blue tac on it...
