Love your examples, not to mention the preceding tutorial - the Fairy-wren is truly superb. Guide books should be so well illustrated!

Thanks Mike and Angky - when the subject comes to you, take it! Glad the birds I was trying to capture didn't swoop in and grab the butterfly!

It's nesting season in south Florida, this was taken from a boardwalk over wetlands belonging to a water treatment plant. The birds are so accustomed to people that you can get within 10 feet of some of these nests.

That's a beauty! The balance of sky and water frame the sunrise perfectly. Understandably dark in the foreground, I am wondering if that's a reflection of the clouds, or skim ice on the water. It looks cold either way!

Sticking with the more photographic theme, I wholeheartedly agree, and appreciate the Kharkiv landscape in the peaceful and majestic views posted here. Well done, and glad we all had a chance to see the beauty of the countryside around your home town, not so long ago.

It's true that the Ukrainian people are on their own. The scale of this invasion was viewed as "beyond the worst case" by most, at least here in the states, but from interviews with Ukrainians it also seems most people were shocked it's actually happening. That Ukrainians will fight for their country tooth and nail is becoming clearer too. The recording of Ukrainian soldiers saying "Russian War Ship go F*** yourself" just before they were killed is playing now on CNN - everybody in the world with a TV that isn't censored knows what's going on now.

I hope you get through this! I hope that help can come in ways that make it clear to Putin that Ukraine is not something he can just swallow up - he has bit off more than he can chew and if he doesn't let go, he will choke to death on his own pride.

I like "old stinky" - reminds me of my old guy - I called him "stinker". He's be sleeping peacefully on the living room rug; suddenly he'd wake and look back at his own rear end...then quietly slink out of the room...moments later, you understood why!

I looked this up when you posted - glad to see it is as far west as one can get - even so, given the current circumstances, I hope you are OK.
