What MikeNArk said. I would hang a big print of this on my wall. Almost looks like an impressionistic painting. Wonderful!

I like the faster shutter speed on this falling water shot. It really works on this image IMO. Gorgeous!

Looks good to me. :) Your exposure compensation of 1.3 seemed to do the trick.

You may want to consider getting Yvon Bourque's comprehensive Pentax K-1 / K-1 II guidebook. It makes a good companion to the owner's manual. Full of tips and tricks, additional explanations, etc. I have two of them for my cameras and found them quite useful. You can download it here for a $20 donation:

Scroll down to see the listing for the K-1.

That's one of the main reasons I thought the K-1 II would be the best choice in the Pentax world.

Do they have pangolins in Australia? I thought they were mostly in Asia and Africa. And I don't think they have lions in the wild in Australia. I assumed this lady was in South Africa.

...just checked, yeah, they are in Africa.

As I read your original post carefully, I kept thinking 'this member needs a K-1 II'. The 36MP should be plenty unless you plan to print really humongous wall coverings/banners.

That's half the AF battle. There's 'good' accurate, 'good' fast, and 'good' accurate and fast. The Pentax lens reviews here on PF give a general user AF rating. My DA* 60-250mm SDM lens seemed to focus accurately (until the SDM died), but it was slow. The DA 55-300mm PLM has lightning fast AF, but it is APS-C. As others have said, I don't think the K-1 II AF will be a limiting factor for you, but the lens attached could be. I doubt that any SDM lens would be good for sports, but I could be wrong.

Phone Camera for Wedding Photography?
Posted By Apet-Sure

The only scenario I can imagine where a cellphone might be adequate:
1. The wedding couple knew the photographer personally
2. They knew the photographer was able to take great shots with his/her phone
3. Their photography budget was extremely limited
4. The wedding was going to be a more informal affair where an intrusive photographer would not be a problem
5. They don't require 'professional' results, only a record of the event

In my film days I shot a few 'shoestring' weddings for friends on very limited budgets. I had decent gear (two SLRs, various lenses, off-camera flash with many accessories). When I met with the couple before the wedding, I showed them samples of my work and explained what I could and couldn't do. If they were OK with that, then I could save them money. Otherwise I suggested they hire a professional. Some (lots?) of folks can't afford to spend thousands or even hundreds of dollars on a photographer. There's a place for a personal friend cell-tographer. But in most cases, absolutely not.

New to me KP Question

Yeah, I never set my K10D higher than ISO400 after learning that was its limit. For my K-5IIs the limit is around ISO1600 for 'acceptable' noise. I've got the auto-ISO on the KP set to top out at 6400. However, I saw an image posted here that someone took with a KP set to ISO10,000 that was amazingly good. IIRC they didn't use noise reduction in post-processing either.

Beginning to learn Digital Processing

Welcome to the forum; nice to have you with us. :) As you can see, there are lots of friendly, helpful folks here. For jpeg processing I have used PhotoFiltre (I'm probably the only one who does), FastStone, and GIMP. GIMP is very powerful and has a large user base. I've learned a whole lot about digital photography just by reading their comprehensive help screens. All these are free.

For RAW I've tried darktable and RawTherapee. Both are powerful and free, have lots of users, and lots of video tutorials. I agree to try something free first. You may find it meets all your needs. As you gain experience, you can decide if you need or want commercial software.

ME Super: Refreshing a classic from the 80's

Congratulations on reviving a classic. I've often wondered what to do with my beloved but non-functioning ME Super. I suppose I could put it on the Marketplace as a project/parts camera. Part of it still lives on - it came with a Pentax-M 50mm f/1.7 lens which I use quite often.

Budget auto focus 50mm and 28mm crop sensor lenses

For a budget lens to give you the equivalent field-of-view of a 50mm lens on a full frame camera, you might consider this one:
SMC Pentax-DA 35mm F2.4 AL Reviews - DA Prime Lenses - Pentax Lens Reviews & Lens Database

It has a plastic mount, but seems to be good bang for the buck judging by the user ratings. I've never used one myself. You might find a used one for sale in the PF marketplace
The Pentax Marketplace | Buy & Sell Pentax Cameras and Lenses - PentaxForums.com

For an APS-C equivalent to a 28mm full frame lens, you'll need something in the 18mm range. The current DA series primes at 15mm and 21mm are pretty pricey unless you can find a great deal in the marketplace. Does it have to be a prime? There are various versions of the DA 18-55mm zoom. This one seems to have the best user ratings:
SMC Pentax-DA 18-55mm F3.5-5.6 AL II Reviews - DA Zoom Lenses - Pentax Lens Reviews & Lens Database

I owned the first version which came in a kit. It was very disappointing optically. I ended up getting a Sigma 17-70mm DC Macro which was a major upgrade. I think I paid around $250 used, so not exactly budget, but I've been quite happy with it.

Welcome to the forum. :)

Congratulations! I've had very good experiences buying from PF members. My understanding is that the Limiteds have that magical 'pixie dust' that adds something special to images. Looking forward to seeing images you've taken with this lens.
