The center Point have the same size on K-5 , K-5 II and K-3. K-5 II and K-3 are more sensitive and more accurate with luminous optics.
On the K-3, the surrounding focus points are smaller.
Focus point on K-5 and K-5 II have all exactly the same size.

Have a look here : "Based on subjective tests, it is our impression that the K-3's autofocus points are smaller than those of its 11-point predecessors, with the exception of the central AF point. If you don't already have a K-5 II (i.e. you have a K-5 or earlier), the K-3's PDAF improvements will be more noticeable in practice."

and Here : "Overall, the autofocus in the Pentax K-5 II feels more decisive than that of the K-5, but this difference does not become noticeable until one is shooting in relatively low light."

Best two lens combo for little KS1 : 21mmLtd + 70mm Ltd
If you want macro, go for : 21mm Ltd + 100mm Macro
If you want more angle : 15mm Ltd + 100mm Macro
You can add later a 35mm, Macro or not, or a 43mm for a desirable trio set.

They also say :
"Given this sensor doesn't feature new technologies like BSI, we suspect there's some 'baking' done to the Raw files. There are clear signs of noise reduction upon further analysis of the Raw (the green channel shows blotches of no detail where other cameras do not). And this comes at a cost - sometimes decreased detail, and odd cross-hatch patterning throughout the image."

Should I go for 16-85 or 20-40?

The 16-85 is a big lens, the 20-40 is lighter, like the K-3 compared to the KP ...
If you do not care about the size, you should go for the 16-85mm, and the K-3 II...

HD DA 20-40 + 77mm???

Because I have 16-50, 17-70, 21mm, 43mm and, when I must choose (travels) I really prefer the 20-40mm (once I get a good copy).

I also have the 77mm and the 70mm, the 77mm is a better choice for portrait (aperture, bokeh), but it is expensive and the 70mm is very good (enough) for travels.
The 15mm Limited is not a perfect lens, but it is very small and goodly - for complete - if you like to use wide angle.

If I had to choose between 77mm or 15mm + 70mm to complete the 20-40 I'll take the duo.

A 20-40 and 77m is a good choice.
Or, for the same price, 20-40 plus a used 15mm SMC (for starburst) and a used 70mm is more complete. I prefer this trio while traveling.
