Suggestions for Monopod w/feet

Baby tripod T1 ? Varavon I've never used anything from this company so keeping that in mind i thought this would be a good setup, the monopod i believe can be attached to this mini tripod giving you the three leg base your looking for. You would have the option of using the tripod if the need ever arises or would make a perfect backpack tripod.

Sigma 50-500mm OS lens Optical Stabilization on / off when using Monopod

I used a friends 50-500 with a monopod and OS turned on and i got excellent results so i'm not sure why yours would be different. I have noticed that when using the monopod i would slightly move front to back when trying to hold still and with a narrow depth of field that often accompanies such a long focal length it would be easy to get shots slightly out of focus. Maybe a better technique would help? I try to find something to brace against but that isn't always possible.

Shutter priority

Sounds like you need to use auto ISO and set the parameters to meet your needs. Shutter priority + auto ISO set properly should maintain your shutter speed with a decent exposure. I'm no expert but i have found that shooting moving birds requires EV compensation since the birds are often set against the bright background of the sky. I am looking forward to some of the replies from the avid bird photographers, i'm always looking for ways to get the most from my gear.

K-30 at F/2.8 ISO 4000 and 1/320 of a sec. You can't have your cake and eat it too so your just looking for the best compromise. There just isn't enough lighting to keep a low ISO and fast enough shutter speed for sports. I set my exposure to manual since the lighting in the gym never changes and i've found that 1/320 of a second seems about right for shutter speed as you can see. The slight blur in the arm and ball doesn't bother me, as a matter of fact i think it adds something to the photo. I also found that i improved as i went to more games and i got better at anticipating where the ball might be heading. My advice would be to keep trying with the setup you have and learn to get the most out of it before just running out and buying another camera, you would probably see a small boost in autofocus speed with an upgrade but very little else. I have a K-3ii also but the noise may be even more visible on the 24 Mp sensor.

K-3 iii ? Did they run out of numbers? It just screams nothing new here when you can't even come up with a name.

There is a button on the left side of the camera ( looking from the back) just below where the pop up flash would have been to turn it on and off.

I was thinking XMC (extreme multi coating) would be good and still be easily identified as Pentax.

I tried Wasabi with the same results. I'll pony up for the Pentax from now on, i'd rather have a reliable battery that works when i need it and save a couple coins elsewhere.

Anyone upgraded from K-30 to K-P or K-3II

I just received my K-3ii after using both the K-30 and K-50 and i happy with my decision to upgrade. I've only had the K-3ii for a week but right away i notice the faster more accurate auto focus. I see improvements across the board but i'm not sure all those things will show up in comparison of photos? The K-30 is very capable of great photos too, it's all the other things the K-3ii does that makes it a great camera.

Landscape Railroad cut

There is a tunnel about 100 feet to the right of this cut which is now the GAP trail and was the Western Maryland railroad until it was merged into the B&O. The Western Maryland was built to accommodate two rail lines but the second rails were installed, perhaps the B&O had the same idea? Would be an awesome spot for some train photos.

Just trying out my new K-3ii over the weekend. This was the site of the Pinkerton tunnel on the CSXT line in Pa. The tunnel was removed to accommodate double stack cars. I'm sure i'll go back and wait for the train next time.

I've seen these before and they are insects or bugs or whatever you want to call them. I too did not notice them while taking photos but they sure show up when you get home. Take some photos at another location and see if they are still there? I bet they are not.

It is a good lens stopped down a little on the long end and holding the camera still at the long end is an absolute must. On the short end of the zoom the lens is very good at any aperture.

I wasn't aware any Pentax had SR dedicated to panning? There is no option for vertical or horizontal stabilization. I may be wrong here but i think you should be turning SR off while panning.

Reflector may be useful if you have an assistant. Unlike a strobe you can see the effect before you shoot.
