Thanks PJ1, I've always been happy with the lens but don't use it much as I find manual focus on digital SLR is a challenge, the focus peaking makes it somewhat easier, cheers CC.

The honey eaters seem to be allowing me to get a bit closer lately, perhaps other things on there mind, it being spring. Anyhow a thought I'd try some of 200ish mm MF lenses, Taken on a Sony A6 with an adapter as I find the EVF with focus peaking much easier for me to focus. This shot was with my Pentax A 200 f4, I was able to get a lot closer than this but I like this one with oof foreground & background. I was able to crop into it fairly heavily from 24mp down to about 8mp and still holds up ok.

Only the second time in 20 years if seen one of these guys in the local park lands along the Moonee Ponds creek Valley, just 50m from my house. I was taking a shot from the other side of the creek, when the kingfisher flew in. I took 3 shots and off he went. This was the best, its cropped in a little, but the picture breaks down if I crop in more. I must have inadvertently bumped the aperture dial (Av mode) of my usual f8 as it was set to f16 and shutter dropped to 1/60s :o In my hast I didn't check settings so there's some camera shake there, good work by the SR though.

It can be a great lens, make sure you fine tune the auto focus, it can make a big difference, thanks & cheers.

Superb Fairy Wren (Blue Wren) I'd just shot about 20 or so shots of a honey eater on a bush at 2 mtrs away. He didn't seem to mind me being there at all and went through a range of poses for me to shoot :) Just as I was thinking wow It doesn't get much better than that, a Blue wren flew in and landed on the same bush, even closer, just on min focus distance :):):)
