Excellent news.

If you ever need a real knife, give me enough time (and money!) and I'll make you one like this ;)

I still haven't processed my late-night consolation shot from the 13th, and I have a blank sheet for the 14th. I have had late finishes form work four days in a row now and the mojo has waned. I'm particularly frustrated about yesterday the 14th, as I was planning to get a shot of my mate Richard Harris at the launch of his book about the Thai cave rescue....

But things are looking up. Today we pick up our daughter's miniature dachshund puppy from the airport. Dobby will be staying with us for a couple of weeks while his usual parents are performing abroad. Expect lots of cute double dog action :)

But that's just the point; it's not really a competition.

Pentax needs to remain profitable. Spending heaps of money in a futile attempt to be the biggest can get in the way of that.

There's a club for this lens? Yay! I can finally join after years of patiently waiting for a deal which didn't induce pre-emptive buyer's remorse.

Here are some early attempts to wrestle some of the magic out of this old gem.

New HD Pentax-D FA* 85mm F1.4 still coming in 2019?

ROFL. At Least? You are dreaming. Seriously. Get over it. Don't forget DSLR's are already a struggling market.

At best, we'll see ONE sub f/2.0 prime at 20mm, 24mm, 35mm and 85mm. We already have stellar zooms to cover those focal lengths at f/2.8
We already have a brilliant 150-450. There is no viable market for largely duplicate 100-400 and 150-600 lenses. Won't. Happen.
And your macro wish list is just silly. 200/2.8 is unusable at close focus, and the current 50mm and 100mm are already pretty good. Silent AF is a sideshow for macro lenses.

This is Pentax we're talking about here. They have never tried to be Nikon or Canon, and they never will.

The DFA24-70 has no screw drive. The AF will not work on any film-era camera. The PZ-1 and later can control the aperture, but you'll have to make do with manual focus.

Early version of Pentax SMCP-FA 43mm f/1.9 Limited Silver?

The serial number of my FA43 is in the low 2000's.

Compared to my first FA43 (also MIJ but much higher SN), it did indeed appear to have a slightly different colour when looking through it, but there was no discernible difference in image quality. I kept the current one because old, and silver ;)

I think it is worth noting that a roadmap actually is.

It doesn't specify when the journey starts or finishes, what route to take or how fast to drive, or even whether the journey will happen at all.

I have been warned about using that term, but it is multilayered, pattern forged steel, made by my own fair hand.

Yes, but I have yet to see an episode. I must look it up :)

NO Allen! You just. Don't. Get it ;)

It's all about efficient use of available space and ease of unloading.

But I did say not to get me started....

If I'm not obsessional about my day job, people die. That spills out into all sorts of aspects of my daily life, but I think I have avoided the compulsiveness which makes it a disorder....

Coffee - certainly. I have a well-maintained manual espresso machine, and haven't had even a drip filter coffee (let alone instant!) for decades.
Knife making - a new one, but if you don't get every step right you waste an awful lot of time. Here's my first effort.
Rock climbing - needless to say there is a small margin of error, so attention to detail is a useful survival strategy.

And don't get me started about stacking the dish washer.

Lens mount adaptors

It sounds like you are describing one of two things.

1) extension tubes. They allow a lens to be used for extremely close focus for macro photography, but you lose the ability to focus on more distant objects.

2) the other possibility is that they are adaptors for larger format lenses to a smaller format body. I have one for 645 lenses on a K-mount body, and one for K-mount lenses on a Q-mount body. These are designed to provide the correct registration distance to allow infinity focus - so you can essentially use the lens over its full focal range, but only a small part of its image circle.

Huh? The FA31 has exceptionally low distortion for such a wide angle lens.

Almost invariably, no. Just about every time I have tried them I have preferred the image before the corrections were applied.

UNFINISHED? But I did that on the 7th! Today I should finish my knife. I'll have to get a shot in the workshop before I put it all together.

Oh, and apologies for the blank on the 8th. I just couldn't motivate myself at the end of a few long work days.
