Thank you. It's a single photo! One of the rare times we had powder and not wet heavy snow.

K1 Freezes with Sigma 24-70 EX DG HSM

Just because that lens was on it doesn't mean it is the lens at fault though. FWIW, both my K3 and my K1 experience extremely rare but occasional lock ups. Usually to the point of needing to pull the batteries, sometimes it will correct after power down (although the power down takes a long time).

This is with a variety of lenses, and I do not use the 24-70 on the K3.

Works fine for me. Perhaps you have a pin stuck "retracted" in the grip? I had that happen on my K5iis grip once.

I use this Sigma as well, but for me the collar remains on. It either attaches to the tripod, or that is where my Black Rapid strap connects. I find it offers the best balance connected at that point.

PS - I do use a grip 100% of the time.

K-1 Tethering

I realize this is a year old now, but I was trying to figure out how to get tethering to work on my Macbook Pro 17", in Lightroom with the LR tether plugin (not Image Transmitter2).

Nothing I did helped: the camera would freeze with PcP on the top screen as soon as connected, until the USB was pulled, then it reverted to normal.

Long story short: needs a quality USB cable. I tried three I had before I discovered that the one that worked, while being the longest of them all at 3ft, it had the beefiest cord in terms of gauge. Worked fine after that. Now to play...

Are you writing to two SDs concurrently? if so, you probably didn't delete the image on the second SD as well.

I haven't test that theory though, as my K3 and K1 aren't handy.

They have no restrictions on recording, videoing or photography.

No stipulations. Pay at the door and they gave patrons one of those little paper tickets you tear off a roll...like at a raffle.

True during the school day only but who holds a public benefit during school?

The auditorium after hours is for public events and anyone can use it.

Please re-read my post. I was not "on their property". They were using the auditorium of a public high school.

---------- Post added 01-11-17 at 11:41 AM ----------

Thanks everyone.

I see several posts stating essentially that I should take the photos down. If you read my O.P. you'll see that I was doing that already.

Whatever stipulations the dancer had were with the studio putting on the event and not with the host venue, nor were there any notices or notifications of restrictions beyond no-video/flash given during the performance.

This has been an interesting discussion with no clear-cut answer, but I am grateful for everyone's input. Thank you.

That's in an MLB owned/controlled venue where you agree to those restrictions either by entering the stadium and/or purchasing a ticket. In my case, this was a public high school auditorium with no connection to the event other than being its host.

In this case it doesn't seem to have anything to do with the actual dancing, but more the dancers themselves wanting control over their likeness.

FWIW, nothing came to me direct from the dancers, just the organizing studio who is probably worried that THEY would get in trouble in some way.

Interesting situation, and looking for knowledgeable input please.

Scenario: benefit concert for a family, primarily all dance related. A good chunk of the show is performance put on by a mix of professional dancers (ballet, step, etc), the rest student dancers from the studio that organized the benefit, and student band/chorus from the host high school where the event took place.

I know the people the benefit is for, and am friendly with many of the students participating. Of my own accord, I went to the event and photographed it. To be clear, I was not asked to attend or photograph the event by anyone.

The photos have since been posted to my photography & FB site as I always do after events.

Today I have received several calls, emails and messages from the organizing studio "requesting" I take down all photos of the professional dancers (mostly the ballet ones) because they (the organizing studio) doesn't "...have their consent to have any pictures taken of them".

Now, I'll take them down so as not to create any friction between the dancers and the studio for future benefit concerts, but in reality, do the dancers have any leg to stand on (see what I did there)?

I signed no contract with the dancers, I was not hired or requested by the studio to photograph, and this is a public location being in a High School auditorium. All of this suggests to me I can photograph freely and offer the pictures up for sale if I choose to do so.

Does anyone have any experience in such matters where a performer claims no one can take their photograph during a performance in what amounts to a public venue?

Thank you.

To add to this, the only announcement made at the beginning of the benefit was that there be no videoing, or flash photography, Specifically they said flash photography.

Just under $1100 to repair. They wouldn't write it off despite my requests which on many levels would have been the best thing. Hell my car was totaled for a lesser repair/value percentage.

Initially when I agreed to the repair the rep said there was no mention of parts needing to be ordered and I would have it back before my deadline of this Friday. Until they got my money and then suddenly I won't see it back until at least the 30th. Thanks Precision Camera. Sigh.

In the meantime I picked up a set of tethers from BlackRapid so this won't happen again.

Fine Focus Adjustment on K1

The K-1 came out after production of these lenses for Pentax ceased. I purchased this lens when the K5-IIs was still the flagship. Since the lens never worked properly with it or the K3 I deem that an issue with the lens. It might happen to work with my K-1, but it didn't work with the bodies it was originally designed to work for.
