K-3 delay when using the flash

And by that do you mean that the issue doesn't really impact you, or that your camera is the only unit that doesn't have this symptom?

K3 and 35mm 24 backfocus - calibration software

You can do it via the Custom Menu. There is a menu option there for Micro Adjustment. You can do it for individual Pentax Lenses, or one setting for all lenses.

K3 and 35mm 24 backfocus - calibration software

That's actually what I insisted they do. The Tech Lead said that they tested the 35mm against a K5 and noticed a BF issue on the lens, but they also wanted to test it against my K3 but can't yet until they've ascertained or fixed the K3 issue (if infact there is a BF issue on the body). I'm quite surprised that they've waited over a fortnight for that software, when they can easily download it from a corporate server. I'm not so sure if infact there is a software or the Tech Lead has just gotten fedup with me calling every week and that this is his way of getting back at me.

Yes you can do it on the Micro Adjustment function, but mine has gone to +10 and there is still a backfocus. I'm keen to know if anyone if Oz has gotten their K3 FF/BF issue fixed, and did it get adjusted mechanically or via some specialised software.

CR Kennedy Melbourne clean and calibration.

I'm in a rush now. I need my camera for my holidays from next Saturday and I still haven't had it fixed after 3-weeks being there. Seems they are waiting for some calibration software to calibrate my K3. Never heard of it before. I thought it was all mechanical adjustments they need to make.

K3 and 35mm 24 backfocus - calibration software

I returned my K3 and 35mm 2.4 (both under warranty) back to CR Kennedy for backfocus alignment several weeks ago. I'm told by one of their Tech Leads that they have been waiting for some calibration software for the K3 for around two weeks now. Has anyone in Australia recently or previously sent in their K3 to CR Kennedy in Melbourne and have had their back (or front) focus fixed?

That doesn't sound normal. I just checked mine and mine displays until I've taken the shot. The information on the OVF (shutter, aperture, focus confirmation, shake reduction, etc.) are all displayed.

K-3 delay when using the flash

I agree that yes it must be fixed and ALL K3's have this, despite what other owners claim that there is no delay. Prove it with a YouTube video please. I have tried more than 10 units and they all exhibit it also, this includes new batches delivered to the stores.

RICOH ARE YOU READING THIS??

I had a feeling this was not going to be addressed in the first firmware update.

Multiple red dots in OVF

I get multiple red dots too on my K5 on AF-S and autoselect on the focus point. However, on the K3, I keep getting just the one red dot (which moves between the 27 points depending on where it's acquired the focus. I've checked the custom settings and there's nothing there other than the option to turn off or on the superimpose focus point. Does anyone else get just the single red-dot when on the 27 point AF?

A question was asked in the other forum about whether you get a single or multiple red dots (to indicate what's in focus) in the OVF when on the 27 point AF.
I get only one. Yes it does move around depending on what the camera chooses to focus on, but I get one red dot only as compared to my older Pentax DSLRs which sometimes showed two dots.

K3 "different" behaviour with pop-up flash

I've noticed the same behaviour too. I do prefer to see the ISO when the shot is taken without having to review the image.

Pentax's pop-up flash logic changed between the ist*DS/DL to the K10D. The change was with the DS/DL even though you were on Auto-ISO, the flash would trigger and the ISO was adjusted accordingly just prior to the shot (maybe after the light has been evaluated). Most of my flash shots on the DS/DL ended up having ISO-200. On the K10D, the ISO became fixed based on the evaluation of ambient lighting conditions and the flash would trigger with enough power to match the ISO. I raised this several times in various forums and was told this is how it should be. So basically on the K10D I was getting flash-exposed shots at ISO 1600 which resulted in grainy well lit images.

K-3 best DSLR of 2013 on DPR poll !

I wouldn't be surprised at all if all of a sudden overnight Nikon and Canon have a surge in votes....because DPR must show that Nikon and Canon are superior whether it's true or not. How else are they going to get paid?

Optimal Noise reduction setting

If you're shooting JPEG you can try this:
1. Use Custom High ISO NR
2. For ISO ranges 100-800 set to OFF
3. For ISO range 1600 set to LOW
4. For 3200 and above set to MEDIUM

It's been reported, and I've confirmed myself that having the above settings (or even turning off High ISO NR altogether) do improve JPEG image sharpness.

I contacted the eBay seller who contacted the manufacturer. I got the replacement within a few days.

I saw your photos, mine is the same as yours. The original I received was 1.5mm on either left and right and 1mm top and bottom. The replacement now has less than a quarter mm on either left/right, and "perfect" top bottom. It is still glued to the LCD though and still get slight bleeding from left and right.

Day bag for k-3 with battery grip?

Have a look at the LowerPro Urban Reporter 150.

I have the 250 version which carries 4 lenses and two bodies (one with a grip). I'm aiming of getting myself the 150 if I just want to carry a body with grip and maybe one extra lens.

LCD protector for K3

I received the replacement main LCD protector today. It's slightly larger now compared to the original I received though it's still sitting on the actual LCD and not around it. However, I'm happy with it so case closed for me. The original K3 protector I was able to put onto the Nikon J1 (fit perfectly).

I highly recommend the ACMAXX protectors. I've been using them since my ist*DS and DL, K10D and K5.

pentax k3 hang at HDR mode.

That seems to be a new potential issue. I don't have my K3 with me today so I can't test. For anyone to test for your symptoms, can you please provide answers to the questions below.

1. How many HDR shots did you take before you started experiencing the issue?
2. What mode dial were you using (U1, U2, P, Av, etc.)?
3. What Exposure Bracket Value were you using?
4. Did you have Auto Align checked?

K-3 Power-on issue

They're not going to announce there is an issue as it will affect their end-of-year sales report if all of a sudden people stopped buying the grip or the K3 for that matter.

I'm sure they know of the issue but aren't saying anything until they know it can be fixed by firmware. If not, they'll just keep it hush hush to prevent people not buying the product.

I installed my ACMAXX on the K3 too. It's about less than 1.5mm short on left & right and about 1mm from top and bottom.

I contacted the seller because according to the ACMAXX website, the protector shouldn't sit on the LCD.
