They aren't sharp because they are heavily overexposed. The double moon is a flare that could be caused from condensation or a cheap filter

Again, it just sounds like you didn't use the proper white balance setting.

What did you try changing? Sounds like a simple white balance issue.

manual mode flash setting on the camera only refers to the pop-up flash. You have to have the external flash set to manual mode.

LED Ring "Flashes"

I expect most LED based ones are always on, thus are usually called "lights". Like in this case, its a ring light. More expensive ones use actual flash tubes and are called ring flashes, as expected.

Pentax Primes vs Fuji

There's no doubt that Fuji is pumping out some amazing lenses. Pentax has several primes on the roadmap, but no sign of them releasing soon. I'm not a fan of the Fuji bodies (at least last time I used a x pro) and the x-trans sensor has issues with many post processing programs. Fuji doesn't have full frame, (though now they have MF), and the lenses are as expensive as typicall quality full frame lenses from Pentax. Sure, the body is smaller, but the lenses aren't, so you aren't really saving space or weight. But they do have great retro styling, if that's what makes a difference for you.

The k-1 can do both of those. Zoom and change images works the same as always. Nothing changes in manual mode. You can also lock the camera so you don't accidentally change something

You need to use flash off, which disabled the built in flash and enables the hotshoe

Thats a very weak light, GN48, which is less than most reasonable shotshoe flashes. If you don't need a ton of power, I guess it would work. Also, it appears to be manual, like most studio lights, so if you need HSS (you mention it in your post), then you'll have to look elsewhere.

Optical triggering can be pretty spotty outside, especially if the slave sensor is in direct sunlight. Radio is always the better choice when available, however, as I'm sure you're finding out, radio P-TTL can be pretty hard to find.

Whats the difference in safety when using no filter, or using, say, a 10 stop filter but increasing your exposure time to get the same exposure as no filter? How is that better for the sensor?

Turn off the camera, remove card 2, turn on the camera and ensure that sequential is set. Turn off the camera, insert card 2 again and it should be working.

How do you set up a shot?

Most often I'm shooting products. So, I set my camera to X mode for 1/125 s shutter speed. The shutter doesn't effect the images, I just need to make sure its less than the sync speed and that the pocket wizards and lights can keep up. That also allows the live view image to show the scene, otherwise in M mode, exposure preview would show a black image. I use f/16 or f/18 to make sure I get the whole product in focus and ISO 100 for clean image with low noise. I let the camera auto focus on the subject.

If I need to make changes, its usually to the power or position of the lights/softboxes and not the camera, since I need to retain those settings or close to them.

Suggestions for a flash for weddings and indoor events

As someone who has shot a fair number of weddings, I can tell you that the more power you have, the happier you will be. I had the Metz 48 af-1 and it wasn't enough. Picked up the Pentax 540ii and love it. Sometimes you have really high ceilings, for dark ceilings, and being able to nuke the room is super useful. A low powered flash (low guide number) will not be able to do its thing in a lot of situations. Additionally, even if you don't need all the power out of a big flash, using it at low powers means it will recycle faster than a small flash working at high power. Don't forget, you'll probably need a decently fast lens with good AF speed as well. The variable aperture consumer lenses with f/5.6 won't cut it, you'll want f/2.8.

Thanks everyone. I always love a chance to show Pentax used professionally, especially for something that isn't landscapes. This camera is such a joy to use (unless you need AF-C).

Its a small desktop sized fan that oscillates and has 6 tilt positions. Air comes out in a vortex. 1st speed is totally silent. And its very stylish.

Yes the white ones where almost all 1 large softbox from above/right. And the last one was a softbox behind/above.

That 1st one was very tricky and has 3 lights, one on the right/behind and one left/behind to highlight the grills, one above/behind for the "hair light" across the top and a reflector in front for the highlight to define the round shape
