Hi guys I haven't visited in a while so have not updated the index.
Additionally it seems my photos that were hosted at Photobucket will no longer be linked in the forum as they are asking folks to upgrade to paid accounts.
I don't really have time to deal with any of this ATM.
If it is important and if someone is interested in maintaining the index send me an email to lnavarro1 at yahoo dot com and I can send the you the excel files and program that is used to create the index.

The K-5 had the quietest shutter, every Pentax before and since has not matched it IMO. (Mirrored Pentax of course.)

I posted this to stimulate the discussion and also as a warning that there are those out there who believe violence is a justified response.
I practice street photography on occasion and have deleted photos when requested.
Thank you to those who posted get well wishes.

My nephew is a photographer for a news outfit in the high desert here in So California and he was attacked this week by some folks who didn't want their picture taken.
He has was kicked and beaten and he is pretty bruised up but it looks like there are no broken bones so we are hopeful for a speedy recovery.

Do I "need" the 300mm for our Galapagos Islands trip?

On a couple of trips to hot humid areas to shoot birds and wildlife I have taken the DA*300 and DA18-135 on two bodies.
The IQ of the DA*300 shows beautifully and leaves the 18-135 lacking when I use it. I suspect the IQ would be similar to the 55-300 which I do not own.
I now have a DA*50-135 which has IQ on par with the *300 and it will be my lens choice pair for these trips.
The 300 is a lightweight tele IMO and I have no problem carrying it around all day and shooting it hand held.

Curious why I would want to use the TC with the K-1?
If I am looking for a telephoto application isn't the K-3 and other APS-C format a better choice?

I shot this owlet at Sepulveda Basin and there is the possibility of a music festival disturbing all of the wildlife there.
If you have time can you help sign a petition to prevent the music festival from taking place? Thanks!

Trade DA*60-250/f4 for DA*300/f4. Whats your thought?

If you already have a 60-250 going to a 300 wont get you significant more reach if that is the goal.
The DA*300 is a lovely lens and I love mine but you can get the same field of view by cropping your shots from the 60-250.
If you want reach then add the HD 1.4TC or look into the 150-450 or one of the Sigma 500mm zooms.

With a zoom factor of 10 the Sigma 50-500 actually does really well keeping image quality throughout its zoom range.
I'm pretty sure this is not what the OP was looking for though.

If the camera or a flash unit used in combination is not
compatible with wireless function, you can wirelessly take
photographs, using this flash unit separated from the camera in
slave flash mode, without connecting an extension cord. You
can take photographs in manual mode.
• Before photographing in slave flash mode, refer to

(Refer to page 75.)
• Set to

So you came back home with SD card full of photos... And then...?

This is my approach, I am not a pro that has to answer to paying clients so this may not work in your situation.

Where do you store your photos? SD card files are initially offloaded to second internal drive (for data only) on PC, into folders organized by date.

How do you sort them? I import the files into Lightroom and do a quick pass through marking them as Reject (will be deleted immediately) Keep (will want to hold on for possible future use) and Rated 5 Star (stuff I want to PP right away.)
After this pass I completely delete all the rejected files to cut down on storage requirements significantly. Empty the trash.

How do you process them? I process in Lightroom only the ones I tagged as 5 star and create an output version depending on target that gets output to a common output folder. Im usually only working on one photo session at a time so a single output folder is fine but can be sent to multiple folders when needed.

Do you save both RAW and the processed JPG?
I save the original camera file and do not save the processed JPG past using it to regenerate the Web or print form. Lightroom allows me to generate a processed JPG again from the original file any time I want so saving the processed file is not necessary.

How do you backup? My data drive gets synced to external hard drives on a periodic basis under manual control. I need to get an automatic backup process in place using NAS.

Do you arrange prints? No

DA*300 plus HD 1.4 x TC coverage of FF in the K1?

I don't plan to use the K-1 for telephoto work as it seems an APSC camera such as K-3 would let me fill more of the sensor with the target and provide maximum number of pixels for post processing work.
Is there something wrong with my thought process here?

I don't think there is any magnification going on, rather you are recording a smaller section of the viewed image onto your sensor.

Look for similar lenses in the adapted index https://www.pentaxforums.com/forums/136-pentax-q/209474-adapted-lenses-tested...ce-thread.html

Then PM the post author if there is not enough info about how they adapted.
