I love the dog photo - I'd definitely put that one in. I understand about the moon one - still a good shot though. I like both of the star trails but I'm leaning towards the first one. All good shots though....good luck

Firstly, let me say I'd be happy taking any of these........so for what it's worth: I think sunsets have been done to death and sunset photo's bore me to tears these days. Of the rest I particularly like the first and last ones (although the blown handrail highlights are a bit distracting). I also like the two astro photo's and the locks. The moon one would be nearly perfect if you'd got it a few minutes earlier while you could see the whole of the moon. But my favourite of the lot is the one of the posts in the water, followed closely by the people on the beach.

If i were entering I'd enter the posts, people on a beach, the star trails, padlocks and the first and last ones. Just my 2 cents of course.

These are basically the reasons for me getting the Brass Monkey (love that moniker!!) too. But I'm going to pass on this one - I can't really see any advantages over having separate lenses of each focal length apart from novelty value. But I applaud Lomography for supporting PK.

What could be causing a discrepancy in shutter count on my K5?

Cheers Adam. It turns out my K5 was made on 13 October 2011 so with fewer than 3k clicks on the shutter it's a very low mileage unit, and it was a good price. I'm really looking forward to giving it a thorough workout.

What could be causing a discrepancy in shutter count on my K5?

I bought a K5 recently with an advertised shutter count of 2,730. The seller delivered it to me the other day and I've been getting to know it over the last few days before I get a chance to get out and really put it through its paces. I love it so far - I thought my K50 was well built but the K5 is built like a tank and it seems like a wonderful camera to use.

But I've noticed something strange. When I've taken a picture it shows a number in the 6,000's on the screen so I checked a jpeg here and the shutter count is indeed 2,735. It can't be the card because it was formatted and I haven't taken 6,000 photo's in my entire digital life. Any ideas what might be causing the discrepancy, or is the number on the screen for something else entirely?

A colleague of mine who was a diehard Canon fanboy bought a K1 last year and says it's the best camera he's used. He still keeps his Canon for some specific purposes but the K1 is his go-to camera

Is the Pentax K5 still a good option ?

I've just bought a K5 with under 3k shutter actuations as a pre-emptive replacement for my K30 which is beginning to show signs of having the aperture block failure. Given the high regard it seems to be held in on the forum, for $AU 380 I didn't think i could go too far wrong. It should arrive this week.

Like JinDesu above, I'm just happy that Ricoh has kept the Pentax name alive and moving forward. They're never going to please everyone with their releases but I would speculate that if Pentax were still part of Hoya then we might not even have the name around anymore. Maybe the naysayers should just be thankful for what Ricoh offer up and get out and take more photo's.

That's perfectly normal. The camera sets itself to a shutter speed of 1/125 while it exposes the first few frames of the film. It's just the camera's way of making sure you are on an unexposed frame when you start to take photo's that matter. It should work fine after that.

Can you fit a K30 with an 18-135 lens attached lengthwise in a Domke F10

So to answer my own original question, the answer is a resounding YES. In fact the K30 with the 18-135 fitted will fit comfortably in the bag with room for another lens stored vertically. Even better, it is big enough not to be mistaken for a murse but small enough to make a great "go anywhere" bag for a single body and a lens.

This is my fifth Domke - I love 'em.

I found a Youtube video where a guy fits a Sony DSLR in the F10 so it looks like my K30 will fit. I've ordered one and it should get here next week. I only need to fit a single camera and lens in this bag so an F2 would be way too big. I already have a couple of F2's and they are great bags (like all Domke's). Unfortunately the Billngham's are ridiculously expensive over here so they weren't really in contention.

Sorry, I'm in a different time zone half a world away so I've only just got back to this. The 5XC only has a single pocket inside and I want this bag for my Daguerrotype lens kit which has the different sets of aperture plates and I'd like to be able to keep each set separated from each other for ease of use.

I'm looking at the Cambags site and it looks like you can fit a Canon EOS 7D in there so it might work.

I'm a real fan of Domke bags and I need something that I can fit my K30 with the 18-135 attached into. I like to have the camera sitting on it's side with the grip pointing upwards and running the length of the bag, but the K30 is about 100mm tall and the F10 is 76mm deep according to the website. So if it fits the way I like it to, the bag would probably bulge. Does anyone know if the F10 is flexible enough for a K30 or something similar to fit inside the way I've described or is there just not enough room?

Lucky you, I love Melbourne with a passion. There's plenty to see in the city itself but I'll let the locals give you the best advice. As for buying gear, I'd recommend buying from DCXpert on Ebay and get it delivered to a local address. They have the best prices I've found and the service is outstanding (it will be delivered next day as promised). Enjoy your time, you've landed in the best city in Australia (IMO of course and I'm sure some others are going to disagree with me)

Mine turned up completely unannounced a month ago. I'm assuming that it was just some sort of aberration in the production and shipping process because I wasn't expecting it until December and I didn't get a tracking number or any sort of notification that it was on its way.

Lomography Daguerreotype Achromat 2.9/64 Art Lens update

As a little teaser for pathdoc, Adam and any others who have ordered this lens - I finally got out yesterday to have a bit of a play with it. Alas, there are no photo's because A.. frankly they're rubbish, and B. I'm not sure how to upload them here either. But anyway.........as you can imagine it's a completely different way of taking photo's, but it's actually quite a lot of fun. Naturally it forces you to slow right down to take a shot (not a bad thing to my mind). I really like the bokeh and effects that can be had by trying out the different aperture plates - there's plenty of room for experimentation. My eyes aren't what they used to be and I had trouble getting correct focus but that's certainly not the lens' fault. The construction is rock solid, it's heavy and it looks really cool on the camera!! Metering is straight forward using the green button and then making any adjustments you want. In fact I think this lens could be a perfect candidate to live permanently on a K30 or K50 that has suffered the aperture block failure. I think my K30 is beginning to fail so that may be the fate awaiting my copy.

So in a nutshell, it's probably unlike any lens you've used before and there's a learning curve, but it's fun. If I can upload photo's direct to the forum without having to go through flickr etc then I'll go through the ones I took and see if there are any that are usable.

I'm sure it'll arrive safe and sound, the Lomography people seem legit to me. I'm starting to think that me receiving mine was just some sort of abberation in the production schedule given that the original ETA was December.
