This is a shot of a Frangipani using 55-300 taken at 300 mm using a manual 2x TC. I am really please with the result. I used a tripod and mirror lock up with IR remote to keep things as steady as possible.

I suggest you stick with the K5 until you can go to FF with the current or next generation K1. Spend some money on high quality FF glass instead.

Cheers
Frank.

I have and can recommend the Pentax K5.

As I've said before, built like a tank and excellent image quality and can be got at a reasonable price.

Get one with a low shutter count and you can't go wrong.

Best of luck.

If money is not an issue get 4 x K1's and give me one.

Seriously though, why not two more K5's?

Thanks everyone for your replies.

I think that on the basis of what has been said the 18-135 will not be a future consideration for me.

Thanks again and best regard to all.

Hi

I've reached a position where I need advice on whether to keep my DA17-70 or buy a 18-135 to replace it.

I quite like the 17-70 and am very happy wit the images it produces but I need to know if the 18-135 will offer any improvements in image quality.

WR and the extra reach are not a consideration. Only considering if the 18-135 will give me a better image quality in the 18-70 range.

Your advice will be well received.

Cheers
Frank

The setting were Lens: 150-500 Camera: K5 ISO: 100 Shutter Speed: 1/50s Aperture: F13.5

The hardest part was getting the focus right.

Full moon tonight - go for it.
