Front Element holding ring

Hello,

I'm trying to get a front element holding lens ring. The ring with usually the name of the lens. I'm fooling around tearing down old beat up lenses. I need a 55mm ring to hold the front element in place. But searching on eBay, all I get are step up rings. I'm looking for a cheap no name ring. I thought of sacrificing a cheap filter, but the ring needs to have some thickness to it to hold the front glass.
Any idea how or where to search?

Thanks,
Ismael

T2 to Pentax K adapter

Hello,

Happy to report I fixed it! It was $4 so it was not worth returning it. So what the heck!
I came to the conclusion it was a tolerance issue. I carefully filed away the back of the mount tabs and it improved ever so slightly. More filing looked promising. So out came the Dremel and went havoc on it! It works now but since the tabs were filed down, I'll treat it gently. This will not see much use anyways. Mostly a novelty for an occasional T2 lens that may come my way....

Thanks,
Ismael

T2 to Pentax K adapter

Hello,

I just received a T2 to Pentax K adapter from eBay. Yes, one of those cheap ones ($5).
I tried it and it mounts to the T2 lens, but the mount doesn't fit any of my Pentax bodies. It looks to be the correct mount, but it doesn't turn. I sent a message to the seller in China with little hope so I want to ask here: Have anybody had this happened? Any hope to fix it? It seems to be a tolerance issue. Not sure if it's worth the effort of returning.
I'm testing in older non working bodies before trying a DSLR.

Thanks,
Ismael

How/where do you get your film developed?

Up to last year when I had local places, I'd request negative only no cutting so I could cut and scan my own at home.
Since my local places like Walgreens no longer develop film, I use Dwayne's photo in Kansas.
A trusted name in photo processing for over 50 years - Dwayne's Photo

And you call yourself a K-mount fan?
SHAME ON YOU!
Get the Spotmatic so you can START with the screwmount family tree branch!
And don't be slacker! Get on it!

Welcome to the darkness (pun intended) of ballet photography. With experience you get to anticipate the jumps and splits to time your trigger happy fingers. I think we can make a club of ballet photographers. :)

Help - asked to shoot a Ballet (tomorrow)

Hello,

I'm the photographer of my daughter's ballet company. My best advise: Don't be afraid of pushing ISO. In my K5II I have pushed up to ISO8000 and it recovers beautifully.

ISO8000

Ballet is faster than you think: Sometimes 1/200 is not fast enough. That is also a consideration for depth of field as movement can be a challenge.
Have fun!

How Do You White Balance?

It is a matter of personal preference. I always shoot raw/Auto WB and correct in post. I carry a grey card in the bag if needed. I usually spend some time in post getting it right on the first image and then replicate in as many as possible (same lightning, location etc).

Post some samples with information on setting used so we can help.
You may be using small apertures that force shutter speed to be slower.

Sorry, I kind of thought K "mount"
K series, hard to beat the 55 1.8
Another option is the 55 f2
I think there was a 50 1.4 as well.....

I think that is most likely an approaching aircraft. The long exposure started when it was already in the frame. At the end it turned left (image right) so the light was less intense. At the middle, the light looks more intense so it may be head on...
That's one of those mesmerizing images that you go like "Why do I like it so much?" :)

May sound like a dumb question, but were the images taken with the same camera? Some cameras may not display images from other cameras if the file format is different.

Odd light leaks and coloured lines appearing in photos? Pentax SV + SuperTakumar lens

I am by no means an expert, but here is what I think:
Since they are always in the same place, I kind of rule out processing and handling. Since it is not in all of them, I think it is not related to back body seals. However, thinking about it, I would check the shutter curtain and the mirror surroundings. A tiny hole in the shutter could probably cause something like this. I'd also inspect the shutter box, mirror area and back plate for any black paint loss. Any shiny spot can reflect unwanted light. Finally, inspect the lens for any cracks, dust or tiny bubbles that may cause flares. Do you have access to another lens (or body) to see if the issue follows the lens or the body?

TIP: A single LR44 may be a few dollars. For about the same price, you can get a cheap laser pointer that has 3 LR44 inside...... Just a thought.....
