This might be useful Pentax Green Button Guide - Articles and Tips | PentaxForums.com The only other source of Program Line info I have found is the *istD manual which shows this info for the FAJ18-35. It would be quite a big task to build up a database showing Program Line graphs for all appropriate lenses (FA series and newer).

Still have all 3 I bought - *istD, K-7, K-1. K-7 currently standing in for K-1 which is off for repair and is baffling the techs. I also have 2 Qs just in case.

Odd, the link shows the K-1 II as £1,700 same as SRS and I presume other shops. I can't see a bundle that comes to that price of £2,033.65 either.

Do you not have the Custom Image option visible in DCU5 Laboratory mode? Unfortunately I can only try it with Pentax DNGs but I can select any Custom Image setting there and it will show me the same image as the camera does.

Surprising what a sensor clean can do, and how bad it can get before that . . .

Automatic sensor clean at both startup and shutdown is the default setting on the K-1. I don't understand why anyone would ever switch away from that setting. Dust Alert would be useful but the K-1 doesn't have that feature (as far as I know!). I have been using the Pentax lollipop since my *istD days, very effective but you need to be very methodical to get good results.

Anyone have 2 or more Q's?

2 Qs here, original white and second bargain one black. I keep meaning to try rigging them up as a stereo pair as I just discovered that my old 3D TV can show stereo jpegs. Trouble is the only pairs of lenses I have are all teles on the Q. The price of a second 01 lens is a bit steep for an experiment.

Pentax K-1 needs aspect ratio grid lines

My position too. Cropping is an output function not an input. I have a couple of film cameras which had aspect ratio masks, complete waste of time in my opinion.

Duracell batteries for Pentax cameras?
Posted By steephill

The name may give false confidence as they are a distributor not Duracell themselves. The batteries you mention aren't Duracell but 2-Power brand. Older reviews claim they use Japanese or Korean cells rather than Chinese ones but I don't know if that is still the case.

Ethylene oxide is a potent neurotoxin and known human carcinogen. Its use is restricted to sterilising medical instruments in specialist equipment by trained staff. It isn't an option for amateur photographers.

Have you ever seen the inside of a DSLR? There is a lot of tech between the sensor and the back of the camera, it isn't empty space.

Your only option is to use the much more expensive genuine Pentax K to Q adaptor which has a built in shutter. If your third party lens isn't K mount you are out of luck.

1983 LZOS MC MTO-11 10/1000 mirror lens - time for a re-lube!

My (fading) memory was that it was possible to reduce the tension of a spring ring supporting the secondary mirror as well as the primary mirror support you mention. I also read that you could buy slightly more expensive A coded versions of the Rubinars etc. which were much more accurately adjusted by the factory.

I think most mirror lens are a Buzz Lightyear design. The intention is to allow for thermal expansion and contraction. A quick web search should find guides for collimating mirror lenses for maximum performance.

Is Pentax HD PENTAX-D FA 28-105mm f/3.5-5.6 ED DC WR Lens a good travel lens for K-5?

So does everybody else get it wrong? For example Pentax K-5 and HD Pentax-DA 55-300mm F4.5-6.3 ED PLM WR RE - Compatibility | PentaxForums.com The official Ricoh site says the same thing:-
USAGE NOTE:
This lens features a KAF4 lens mount compatible with an electromagnetic diaphragm control system. Cameras compatible with this system are K-1 Mark II, KP, K-70, K-1, K-3 II, K-3, K-S2, K-S1 and K-50. For K-1, K-3 II, K-3, K-S2, K-S1 and K-50, the camera’s firmware must be upgraded to the latest version. If this lens is mounted on a camera without proper firmware upgrade, its diaphragm control mechanism becomes inactive, making it impossible to obtain correct exposure.
