Interesting... I have a soft lens for my Rb67 and I find it hard to use. In fact, I don't think I nailed focus once since the original 3 test shots...

Yes, unfortunately I have discovered these in a local bakery a couple of years ago. My excuse is that if I eat those for breakfast I still have plenty of time to work them off (or sleep them off) before the end of the day

You also need to pick a right time of the year. There are some apps that help with that. Otherwise the galactic centre might not be visible. Last time I tried astrophotography was back in August and I had to go out soon after sunset. Later on the centre wasn't visible.

I'd say Takumar 58mm f2. I never hear people talking about this lens but to me the rendering is just amazing.

Helios 44. Not sure why, but I never use it. I wasn't tempted to acquire one because I inherited one from my grandfather. So it definitely stays. But I never use it. Like EVER. Maybe it's because Helios 44 has some tough competition (Takumar 2/58, Primoplan 1.9/58 and Helios 40 for that swirliness).

In addition to all that's been said is that the original Meyer Optik Primoplan is cheaper than the modern edition, not to mention the fact that it's, well, original. :)

You are probably right. The question is, what does competing in DSLR market mean? Pentax is not competing on AF or video (as is well known) or third party lens support, so really, Pentax is competing in a still photo DSLR segment.

Great lens, good condition. Some wear on the focusing ring. I bought it used from a former forum member. Soon after I got it I noticed a small (1mm long and hair width wide) mark on the front glass. Not sure what it is, maybe a damage to the coating. I haven't noticed any impact on the photos, but I am not a pixel peeper!
You can only see it when the light falls on it in a certain way, so I couldn't take a photo.
