Any reviews? Comparable specs to the dfa*1118 but third party and milc. A lot cheaper of course.

DA*1118 on the left DA*1650 on the right. Just a screen grab from a video. That lens lineup image is probably available at higher res somewhere.

Yes that was the point. The 15-50 is in that zone where Pentax has iterated endlessly and for sure know how to make a lens. The new one looks huge so probably great optics and plm for focussing. I don't think any existing lens can match this.

I guess a pixel shift thread at web resolutions are just examples of pictures taken with ps. The resolution improvements by ps is at the single pixel level. Images here do look very clear so perhaps something is transferred.

The 12-24 not being much cheaper sounds odd to me. By now its used only I guess? I paid 1/6th of the price of the 11-18 for my 12-24...
Not using it anymore though.

About the charger. As mtkeller said chargers are now sold separate to avoid waste. I know I have two pentax chargers that never left the box they came in.

A cheap webcam lacks the k mount so your videos look crap. Many don't care about video call IQ but for some jobs it can be important. Having a proper lens on a proper sensor will make a huge difference.

I suspect any difference is quite subtle. Or at least only visible in edge cases. Despite being quite candid this is Ricoh marketing. The da limited smc to hd switch is probably equivalent and people harldly notice except for star bursts.

Does the new HD31 also now have rounded aperture blades? The HDFA35 can show some hexagonal bokeh. I don't mind but I guess it may contribute to the busyness.

I often forget so pull the K-1 screen out when on a tripod. The screen is always visible to see what I'm doing. I prefer to compose by viewfinder anyway, even on a tripod. Once with my K-3 II I had some issues with my very, very large tripod extended max and the post cranked up beyond reach. But I'm not sure the flip would have helped much. Shutter via remote of course.

I have the HDFA35 and I quite like it. Backgrounds can get busy though in certain circumstances. The FA31 has a much more complex optical formula so it's interesting to tease out where the special glass etc makes a difference. The fov muddies the waters of course but still interesting.
This page Test: Sex fasta fullformatsobjektiv för Pentax K-1 did some reviews and mtf tests at wide open and f8
FA31
FA35
The above doesn't say that much so I'm just curious about the differences. I'm not looking to get the FA31 altough the fov is probably better for me I liked the DA21. I'm just curious.

The idea of people using the da*1118 on ff makes me a bit sad. Seems like a very nice lens on the correct sensor size.

Having the lens come after has the advantage of dragging out the media exposure over a longer time. Downside is that lens + camera might awe the reviewers a bit more.

You inevitably have to work around field curvature but its quite hard to control.

It's obviously still an advantage to be able to choose what size/performance ratio you want. The FA43 to DFA*85 range of size is generally available for milcs as well.
Speaking of milcs the Sony 20mm F1.8 is $900 what aperture and price do you expect of the DFA21? The FA31 is about $1k.

Distortion corrections pushes things out of the frame unless you want an image with curved sides. I don't think many photographers would be happy about being able to frame accurately.
Small amounts is fine for casual work but some mirrorless lenses show a lot of distortion. See Leica Q2 for instance.

I meant a comparison of the images they produce not primarily the focal length. Someone who knows the lenses well might be able to find situations that show of their character. Bokeh, colours, aberrations, sharpness behaviour.

No it's not possible with dslr's because your framing will be wrong. The evf corrects the view so that you won't be surprised when bit's of the frame is chopped off.

As mentioned you can't software correct field curvature. Typically this means they they focus on getting sharpness, field curvature and longitudinal CA sorted with glass whilst leaving vignetting and distortion for software. It's easier to make sharp lenses with distortion and vignetting than perfect all around. Leaving the milcers with an advantage in lens design.

Tested with my grii + android phone and it connected quickly straight from app using the image sync interface. Previously I had to connect using the phone WiFi settings and *then* start the app.
