I don't see what you stand to gain by these posts, people that are prepared to pay the price will and those that aren't wont so you are basically flogging a dead horse. As much as I do agree with quite a bit of what you say I must admit it is starting to look a lot like trolling now.

That statement right there gives me a little hope for this forum.

I rarely come here any longer as to me it seems that anyone that says the smallest thing against Pentax is instantly set upon by what I can only describe as a rabid pack of attack dogs ( 3 or 4 people in particular). I am a massive fan of the brand and have had every top end camera (some multiple times) from the K10D to my present K-1 and have multiple lenses from the 15-30mm to the 150-450mm but Pentax has it's weaknesses and personally I don't get all defensive when someone mentions them, after all it's only a camera at the end of the day.

My only concern is AF/tracking speed and I have held back putting in an order until I see it in action, I have been burned before by Pentax's autofocus promises.

Just my opinion of course.

You could say that it's not actually a small number of commenters but rather nearly every post in the rumours section, whether they be good or bad

So will I but there is no way on earth they are getting a crop sensor K3 III ISO 12800 looking better than a full frame K-1 ISO 3200 shot without turning it to mush. Ricoh is no doubt capable of many things but raising the dead isn't one of them.

I am currently selling my K-1, 15-30mm, 24-70mm, 70-200mm, Sigma 85mm and 180mm macro to buy a Sony body and the 200-600mm purely because Pentax doesn't have a ** - 600mm lens. I am keeping my 150-450mm, 1.4x and a couple of crop lenses for later in the year when I may buy the K-3 III but IMO without a longer prosumer zoom lens Pentax won't attract the wildlife shooters no matter how good the AF is.

I have no problem with kite surfers with the K-1 and 150-450mm already, what I am interested in (dare I say it) is the DPR weaving bicycle test. That will give me an idea of what the new camera is like with oncoming subjects.

Yes, with the newer mirrorless bodies you can often have both body and lens SR on which gives up to 7 stops. With Pentax you use one or the other as I believe if you use both they fight against each other. Inbody works better than lens SR for short focal lengths but when I had the Sigma 50-500mm OS I always used the lens stabilization as it was much more stable through the viewfinder.

Umm, I think you missed the part where I said I shot with the D500 (for a good 6 months along with a Sigma 500mm f/4 sport and converters/150-600mm) and currently also use the 7D MKII with a Sigma 150-600mm sport. I am under no illusion that Pentax need to up their game and have complained many times about their AF system and long lens selection but at the end of the day people will choose their system based on what they are comfortable with.

VR in long lenses apparently works better than in body SR, it also helps with framing and tracking due to the VF not jumping around so much.

Despite selling my K-3 and most of my crop lenses when I got the K-1 I kept the DA* 16-50mm and DA* 50-135mm because althought the SDM works fine on them it can take a while for them to wake up and start working properly so I never got round to getting them fixed. I am interested to see if the new camera puts a bit more power through the motors.

The trouble with the D500 is that it lacks soul. By that I guess I mean that while the Nikon is technically far superior it lacks that certain Pentax magic that has kept me shooting with the K10D/K20D/K-7/K-5/K-5II/K-5IIs/K-3/K-3II and presently the K-1 all these years. Despite using the D500 as a second system I nearly always picked up the Pentax camera even when I knew I have a much better chance of getting the shot I am after with the Nikon. I still do it with the 7D MKII.

Enjoying my photography is just as important to me as "getting the shot" I guess and when the K-1 does get it right (or should that be me) the image quality is much better than the Nikon or Canon (In my opinion as always).

Up until now I have put off buying the 560mm because we didn't have a body that (IMO) take full advantage of the lens, I even sold my FA* 250-600mm f/5.6 because of it. Sort of regretting that now

I have the 1.4x and the IQ degrades too much on the 150-450mm, you may as well crop harder but then you lose resolution. IThe converter is fine on the 70-200mm f/2.8 though because you still have room to stop down. Also (as has been said many many times) the AF/tracking is slow enough on Pentax bodies anyway without putting more obsticles in the way. It will be interesting to see how they perform on the K-3 (3) though, looking forward to seeing that.

I had the D500 & Sigma 150-600mm sport (currently have the K-1/150-450mm and 7D MKII/Sigma 150-600mm Sport) and the Nikon was an excellent camera and IMO wiped the floor with every previous Pentax with regard to tracking/AF speed/Buffer. If the K-3 (3) is half as fast it will be good enough, my concern is the Pentax lens selection, as good as the 150-450mm is it's not long enough to attract serious wildlife photographers, Pentax needs a whatever - 600mm prosumer lens whether they join up with Tamron again or make one from scratch.

And the K-01 and ME super?

KP as your first camera ... cool.

Just playing but harping back at the old days when someone want's new technology is just a bad comparison.

Makes you wonder why someone would buy a KP when they already have a spotmatic ;)
