Here's a quick video I put together showing the differences between the Billingham 72 and Digital Hadley camera bags. I even show how my Pentax K-5 is able to fit into the 72 camera bag!

What camera bag and lenses do you typically take on a model shoot?

How much input do you have to give these models for posing or do they pretty much know what they want?

I own the Sony RX 100 and find the reds produced by it are much more accurate (deeper) in sunlight than my Fuji X-T1 but the Fuji is much better with all the rest of the colors. Do you find the same?

My favorite Fuji lenses are the 90mm and the Zeiss 50mm macro. I do use the 14mm quite a bit but that's for architecture mostly.

Billingham 307L Camera Bag Overview

I think the Digital might be a tight fit but doable for the K-3. The 18-135 lens shouldn't be a problem as the bag is rather deep which I like. I really liked the Billingham L2 or Alice for my K-3 as it is wide and you can easily get the camera with a lens attached in and out. If money is tight don't forget to check out the Domke F9 as it is very similar to the Billingham Hadley Digital.

Here's my youtube review of the Billingham L2 or Alice with my K-3.

And here's a review of the Domke F9 albeit with a Fuji system but the K-3 should be close.

I've yet to do a review on the Hadley Digital but I'll get to it someday :)

So how do you use your Billingham 550? Is it just a place to store your gear at home or do you take it out?

If you do take it out do you actually wear it on your shoulder all day and work out of it or do you just leave it on location (I'm thinking friends, siblings or work place) and just grab whatever gear you need and either transfer it to a smaller bag or just take the camera out on a strap?

Billingham 307L Camera Bag Overview

I sold the Billingham f/stop 1.4 because I no longer have my Pentax K-3 and lenses. I switched to the "Dark Side". Fuji :) So as you know the f/stop 1.4 is wider than the Hadley Pro and worked fantastic for my K-3 system. Unfortunately it's not quite the right size for my Fuji system so I ended up purchasing the 307L to fit ALL my Fuji gear into. Since I already have the Billingham L2 and Hadley Digital, I didn't really need another smaller bag to work out of. What I really needed was a travel and transport bag for the Fuji stuff.

To answer your question regarding access to your equipment when carrying the bag, as long as you have the top flap open and tucked on the inside, it's rather easy to access the gear through the zipper opening since the bag uses carbon fiber rods to keep the bag "open" when accessing the gear. Personally I think the bag is a bit large to shoulder wear it all day but that's a personal preference.

I looked closely at the Billingham 225 and 335, but felt the 225 was a bit small for all my gear, and the 335 does not have a laptop carry cushion mounted inside. And of course the $349 price tag of the bag was also a strong reason I purchased it over the 335. It was nearly $100 cheaper.

I also looked at the Domke F2 but ultimately it failed for several reasons. Not enough cushion/protection, no laptop space, and much smaller than the Billingham 307L. I do own several Domkes and love them but they weren't quite right for what I needed them for. But, the price is great, especially on the used market. If money was a factor I'd go with the Domke F2. No question. And just work around it's shortcomings.

Although I show it with my Fuji gear it will easily swallow up a Pentax K-3 and lenses with no problem.

Yea that's one thing with Fuji. The jpegs are fantastic out of the camera with many opting out of using RAW completely. I only use jpeg myself. It's so much quicker and the results speak for themselves.

Yea I'm thinking of purchasing the Godox TT350F myself. I've got Fuji's EF-X20 but I'd really like HSS. So for only $85 i can have that.

The one Pentax lens I do miss the most is the FA 100 2.8 macro. And yea, I had the FA 31 and the F*300. Possibly the best 2 lenses Pentax ever made. So I ended up giving my little brother the FA 100. I just couldn't sell it. It's that good. It has a 3D effect I just haven't yet been able to reproduce. And yea. You have to get the FA 100 version. No other Pentax 100 macro comes close to this pixie dust.

I mean look at this photo. Try to reproduce that with any other lens.......Impossible I think.

I know its crazy isn't it? I was comparing my K-3 and FA 31 (Pentax's finest lens) with the X-T1 and their el cheapo 27mm pancake. It wasn't even close :(

Welcome to the "Dark Side" :) I did the same thing last year. Sold all my Pentax gear (K-3) and 8 lenses for the Fuji X-T1. I bought the 14mm 2.8, 35mm 1.4 , 90mm F2 , 50-230 and the Zeiss 50mm 2.8 macro.

Fuji's cheapest plastic lens, but still takes sharper pictures than my Pentax DA*200 in good light. So what's up with that?:)

Beautifully sharp pictures from Fuji's "cheap kit lens". I've got one myself and just can't believe how sharp and contrasty this hidden gem is.

My camera is so unique and expensive, I don't want you to know what I have.

I do the opposite. I cut out Leica labels from magazines and glue them on my Kodak instamatic 110. People get sooooo jealous it makes me feel superior to them and stokes my ego :)

Ummmm.....that's exactly what I did :) I've been very happy with Fuji. . I sold all my Pentax gear. About $4,000 worth. No regrets. Good luck with your decision. I'm sure you'll make the right choice for YOU. Remember it's all about YOU, not what others have done including me.

I sold my 27mm for the 35 1.4 , a much better lens IMHO. Get the 27mm if you want to go stealth mode for street shooting. It's such a compact and sharp lens you can easily fit both it and the camera in a large pocket ( I had the XT-1). Other than that I found it a bit too clinical, but sharp, and preferred the pixie dust of the 35mm 1.4.

If you want the best lens Pentax has ever made then buy the F*300. All others pale in comparison. Even the FA 31. End of Story. Plus the off white color will give you "Street Cred".

Flickr. Don't use photo bucket. They charge $400 a year to post your photo's for third party websites like this. I moved to flickr along time ago and don't even bother with my photo bucket account anymore. It can just sit there and rot for all i care.

That's funny....I feel the exact opposite LOL. I quite like the Fuji handling and menu design over the Pentax :)
